50th Annual Pacific Circle Consortium Conference
Tuesday, 19th May to Saturday, 23rd May, 2026
University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa
Honolulu, Hawai‘i
Welcome! At the 50th Annual Conference of the Pacific Circle Consortium, conference hosts the College of Education of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa invite you to consider the wisdom of He Wa'a He Moku, He Moku He Wa'a, a metaphor that captures the essence of Pacific education. The metaphor works on multiple levels - recognizing that educators serve as both stable foundations (islands) and dynamic vehicles for growth (canoes), while students are both grounded in their cultural communities and launched toward new possibilities.
The theme emphasizes the interconnected nature of Pacific educational communities, where traditional wayfinding wisdom guides modern pedagogical practice, and where every learning space becomes both a sanctuary of belonging and a vessel of transformation. It honors the deep Pacific understanding that apparent opposites - stability and movement, tradition and innovation, individual and community - are actually complementary forces that work together to create meaningful educational experiences. Our subthemes are Aloha ʻĀina: Rooting Education in Love for the Land; Mauli: Nurturing the Life Force in Pacific Education; Kuleana: Embracing Our Generational Responsibility; Pilina: Strengthening the Connections That Sustain Us, and; Ea: Reclaiming Educational Self Determination (read more under the Call for Proposals).
In the Pacific way, we understand that isolation is an illusion. Every island reaches toward others through the currents below and the winds above. Every canoe carries the spirit of home while seeking new horizons. As educators, we embrace this wisdom - we are simultaneously the steady ground beneath our students' feet and the vessels that carry them toward their dreams.
Engage with a conference focused on increasing knowledge and action to
share practice and research efforts and findings as they relate to the interconnected nature of Pacific Circle educational communities;
broaden participation in Pacific Circle education and continue developing and supporting K-20 Pacific Circle educators;
share and discuss excellence in programs and initiatives; and
build community with K-20 Pacific Circle educators, scholars, and community partners.
Join the Pacific Circle Consortium when you register for full registration. Members are
established and emerging researchers,
academics and teacher educators,
curriculum policy specialists from Education Departments and statutory authorities,
school-based curriculum leaders and teachers, and
graduate students.
Connect with other Pacific Circle educators. The conference emphasizes how a network of Pacific Circle teachers, practitioners, and scholars can work together to build opportunities for the next generation of students to address a wide variety of complex problems in the Asia-Pacific.
The Pacific Circle Consortium finds it central to our beliefs that the people of the Asia-Pacific have a forum to discuss educational problems and celebrate successes that are representative of the world we live in.
Submit a Proposal to present at the conference. The Call for Proposals will be 13th October to 15th December 2025 midnight your local time. Decisions will be sent beginning 12th January 2026. We seek research paper presentations (30 minutes), hands-on or practitioner sessions (60 minutes), and round table sessions (45 minutes).
Plan your travel to participate in the program.
