Cultural Enrichment: Mr. Cashman’s expertise in traditional Hawaiian cultural land management practices and his work at Ka Papa Loʻi ʻo Kānewai will offer students, faculty, and staff a deeper understanding of Native Hawaiian traditions.
Connection to Place: By showcasing how traditional Hawaiian practices like kalo (taro) farming maintain the bond between people and the land, this event would strengthen the campus community’s connection to the local environment.
Celebration of International Education: As part of International Education Week, this event would exemplify the benefits of international exchange by highlighting the ways in which local practices can be shared and appreciated by people from around the world.
