The Spellbinders, an original play written by local Chris Monaco, follows a new tale of ten magic students trapped inside the school and are forced to kill each other in order to escape. This play encapsulates people's real-world struggles in an otherworldly setting and displays a heartfelt and tragic tale.

Haverford Drama Club had a one night only performance on May 30th and revived the play production process after several years of solely musicals. This play was the third Drama Club production of the school, following the fall musical The Pajama Game and the spring musical The Spongebob Musical.

This was also the club’s first-ever student-directed production, led by Zoe Starr ('25) and Norah Kneafsey ('26). Alongside their dedicated cast of ten, they rehearsed and brought the show to life just in time to close out the school year with a packed house.

The Spellbinders quickly began rehearsals after the spring musical and brought new creative directions with being the first solely student-led production of Haverford Drama Club.

These ten actors were chosen by the directors and explored every aspect of their character and beautifully brought them to life on stage.

Unlike our musical performances, The Spellbinders was a one night only performance. Audience members left the performance feeling connected and excited for this new tradition for Haverford Drama.
