We're excited to share the latest progress highlights on our bond project!

• District-Wide: Upgrades to specific ventilation systems.

• Bretton Woods Elementary: Localized roof renovations are nearly complete.

• Pines Elementary: The expansion of the parking lot provides much-needed additional parking space.

• Middle School: Paving for the multi-purpose courts for basketball, volleyball, and handball is complete. Fencing is installed, and sidewalk concrete has been poured. Additionally, improvements to the track and field area, including paving, are nearing completion.

• High School: 

  • Renovations to the Science Research Room are progressing, with final touches underway. 

  • Track resurfacing is ongoing, including the jumping and shot put areas, along with upgrades to the area for discus throwing. 

  • Synthetic turf infields are being constructed for both baseball and softball.

  • Since July, work has been underway to install two new synthetic multi-purpose turf fields.

  • Custom-colored benches, trash receptacles, and windscreens continue to be installed as materials arrive for the tennis and pickleball courts. The courts will be opened shortly to the community.

June Highlights

• Construction is progressing at the high school on the tennis and pickleball courts. The courts are nearing completion: color coatings have been applied, court lines are being set, and only final touches remain before they can be opened to the community. Custom-colored benches, trash receptacles, and windscreens, aligned with Hauppauge’s branding, will be installed as materials arrive.

• At the high school, work is progressing on the grass practice field, where the ground has been leveled.

July Highlights

• Localized roof renovations at Bretton Woods.

• Continued improvements district-wide:

  • High School: Resurfacing the track, jumping and shot put areas, upgrading the area for the discus throwing events, and constructing synthetic turf infields for both baseball and softball. Installation of two synthetic turf fields, enhancements to baseball and softball fields, renovation of the Science Research Room, and selective masonry repairs.

  • Middle School: New multi-purpose courts for basketball, volleyball, and handball, along with improvements to the track and field area.

We’re excited to share the latest progress on our bond project.

 Phase 1 Timeline and Highlights:

• May 2025: Construction continues at the high school with tennis and pickleball courts. The first section of the north retaining wall is complete, and trench drain installation is underway. Courts are expected to be completed by early July. Grass field work continues to progress.

• Summer 2025:

  • Localized roof renovations at Bretton Woods.

  • Expand the parking area at Pines, providing much-needed additional parking spaces.

  • Continued athletic field improvements at the middle and high schools.

    • High School: resurfacing the track and jumping events and relocating and upgrading shot put and discus throwing events; construction of synthetic turf infields for baseball and softball.

Phase 2 Timeline and Highlights:

We’re pleased to share that Phase 2 has received formal approval from the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Bidding is now underway, with construction set to begin this summer.

• June 2025: Solicit bids for Phase 2 work and Board of Education review and approval of the bids.

• July 2025: Phase 2 construction begins.

  • High School: Installation of two synthetic turf fields, enhancements to baseball and softball fields, renovation of the Science Research Room, and selective masonry repairs.

Exciting Progress Continues!

Phase 1 of our bond project is moving forward with significant progress made throughout March and early April. Here’s the latest update:

Phase 1 Timeline and Highlights:

• February 2025: Construction began on high school tennis courts and grass practice field with the removal of soils, old tennis courts, and installation of drainage systems.

  • Progress: Compaction and grading continue around the tennis courts and grass practice field. Trenching for lighting conduits is nearly complete.

• May 2025: Construction starts on MS handball, volleyball, and basketball courts.

• Summer 2025:

  • Roof renovations (Wing II) at Bretton Woods.

  • Expand parking area at Pines, providing much-needed additional parking spaces.

  • Lighting upgrades (High School, Middle School, Pines and Forest Brook).

  • Continued athletic field improvements at the middle and high schools.

Since our last update on September 24, 2024, we are pleased to share that the District has officially received approval for the Phase 1 Plan from the New York State Education Department (NYSED). The plan, originally submitted on March 11, 2024, will now move forward with the following key projects:

• Improvements to the athletic fields at the high school and middle school

• Roof renovations (“Wing II”) at Bretton Woods

• Expanding parking area at Pines, providing much-needed additional parking spaces

• Upgrading lighting in various areas across the District

With this approval in hand, we will begin the process of soliciting bids for these projects. The Board of Education will review the bids at an upcoming meeting.

Since our last update on August 22, 2024, the District has continued regular meetings with our architect and construction manager to keep things moving forward. We're excited to share that the Phase 1 Plan, which we submitted to the State Education Department (NYSED) on March 11, 2024, is in the final approval stage, and we anticipate receiving building permits within the next three weeks. 

Phase 1 will include:

• Improvements to the athletic fields at the high school and middle school

• Roof renovations (“Wing II”) at Bretton Woods

• Expanding parking at Pines

• Upgrading lighting in various areas across the District

Once we have NYSED's final approval and building permits, we will proceed with soliciting bids for the work, which the Board of Education will consider at an upcoming meeting.

Since our last update on July 22, 2024, the District has continued holding bi-weekly meetings with our architect and construction manager to ensure steady progress. We are pleased to announce that the Phase 1 Plan, submitted to the State Education Department (NYSED) on March 11, 2024, is currently "under review" by the state’s architectural review committee.

Phase 1 includes key upgrades such as athletic field improvements at the high school and middle school, roof renovations at Bretton Woods, site work and parking expansion at Pines, and selected lighting enhancements throughout the District.

As per state regulations, school districts are required to obtain final approval from NYSED before proceeding with bids or commencing construction. We remain hopeful that by our next update, we will have received approval and can provide details on the next steps.

Since our last update on May 22, 2024, the District has been diligently holding bi-weekly meetings with our architect and construction manager.

We are currently awaiting approval for the Phase 1 Plan submitted to the State Education Department (NYSED) on March 11, 2024. Phase 1 encompasses athletic field updates at the high school and middle school, roof renovations at Bretton Woods, site work and parking expansion at Pines, and selected lighting improvements throughout the District.

Unfortunately, school districts cannot proceed with bids or commence construction until final approval is granted by NYSED. At present, the state’s architectural review committee is evaluating projects submitted on February 13, 2024. We remain optimistic that by next month’s update, we will be able to share the approval status and outline the next steps.

Since the last update on March 22, 2024, the District has conducted interviews for the Construction Manager firm which will oversee the construction projects included in each phase of the Bond. A recommendation will be submitted for Board of Education consideration at the next meeting on June 4, 2024.

The District still awaits approval for the plan submitted to the State Education Department for Phase 1. The first phase includes athletic field updates at the high school and middle school, roof work at Bretton Woods, site work and parking expansion at Pines, and select lighting throughout the District.

This month, the “Phase 1” project scope was submitted to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) for review and approval. 

While we await approval, the District will receive topography and survey results to prepare for the pre-design for “Phase 1.” The District will continue to meet with our Architects for pre-planning. 

An RFP (Request for Proposal) for a Construction Manager is underway, and we anticipate submitting a firm for Board of Education consideration by our next update. 

The project's overall scope has been categorized into three phases of construction, which will spread the work out over the next few years. The first phase includes athletic field updates at the high school and middle school, roof work at Bretton Woods, Pines site work and parking expansion, and select lighting throughout the district. “Phase 1” will be submitted to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) for review and approval in the upcoming weeks. 

Upon NYSED’s approval of the projects, the district’s architect and construction management team will finalize bids/construction costs for the work in “Phase 1.” Once the District approves the bids, construction will begin. Currently, the District anticipates breaking ground on “Phase 1” projects in the summer of 2024.
