This was the cave activity. In this activity I programmed the bird to fly through a cave avoiding obstacles.
This was the space maze activity. In this activity I programmed the rocket ship to follow the mouse and reach the planet in order to win.
This was the race activity. In this activity I programmed two sprites to race each other, each controlled by a different player.
This was the story activity. In this activity I used coding to tell why kids should play less video games.
This was the quest activity. In this activity I programmed the sprite to say lines when entering a new area, which I programmed to happen. This has a story that I came up with.
Using Scratch, I created projects for CS First because it would help me advance my knowledge on coding. The reason for this is because I want to boost the amount of things I know how to do with computer science. After doing the project I have learned a few things, like relearning what a add-on is.
During this process, I learned a lot of new things and relearned some old ones. One thing I learned how to use was variables and correctly. You have to use them as a storage and other things.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I was trying to learn some new things. I wanted to learn more about computer science so I took this camp type project.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the time restraint. I was able to do it by breaking the schedule and doing it during the evening instead of early morning. I found out that I misread an instruction by day three, so I started speed solving on all my classes, completing some classes for the week early.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the amount of add-on I used. The reason why I would change it is because I put only about one in only five projects, so I feel next time I can add more of the add-on for better usage. So if I do another CS First project I will try to add more add-on.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in code developer for gaming companies. The reason for this is that I just completed a CS First activity about video game creation, so I think that it is the most obvious choice.
