DAY 1
I created the character cards and have a total of eight. There are some new folks and some familiar faces in their.
Day 2
I created the prompt cards, the four cards are for those who can't think for their selves. I also created the formula for the stats sheet. Just grab a piece of paper, fold it into four boxes, label them by the players name, then the stats, like H.P and other.
This is a video explaining some of the rules and features of the game.
The project I created had me think about how my project would go. I had to ask myself some questions and follow up with answers. Will I be working with or without a team, without. What I need for to make this project, cardboard, paper, and other crafts material.. What I plan to create, item #25, or an adventure game with a prompt fueled story filled with out of the hat characters. What unique qualities does it have that separate it from the rest, unique prompts, familiar faces from the the A-26 Multiverse, and more. Those are the type of questions you have to ask yourself when doing a project.
Using crafts material, I created an adventure board game that is fueled by a unique prompt and out of the hat characters because I wanted to make another board game and not fail to fall through with it. What I mean is that I have tried to make a few board games before, but I never seemed to be able to finish them, or get any interest in doing it after a while. So I am going back to see if I can make a board game that is unique to me and my style.
During this process, I learned that time is a precious commodity that I should not over look, especially final turn-ins. I didn't have a lot of time to complete this project, so I needed to work quickly on this project fast and well made. I really feel like I can relate to a writers and others who have deadlines for their work.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I am making my own board game. I would have to think up all the rules, characters, prompts, endings, and other such things that I would have to make unique to my head cannon of, well my head.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting a video of my project in action. I was able to do it by hiding up in a secure room where I would record the video explaining rules and functions. I couldn't grab some random person off the street, so I made a video explaining the basics, the stats sheet, the character cards, and the prompts. I do hope that the video is done well enough, I even wore a nice shirt and a fedora.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the format of the project. The reason why I would change it is because it is a low budget version of some better things like DND online. So the next logical step for this project is to create an online version of the game that allows multiple people from different devices to use at once. Perhaps next year I will be able, or perhaps this school year.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in board game development. The reason, why this entire project has been about building a card based board game, minus the board, so perhaps if some of my future plans don't go well, I have a backup.
