This is a collection of Photos I took during the project. Each has been labeled by day with a little caption underneath it. The photos have some corny jokes as well, you have been warned.
The project I created had me think about how my project would go. I had to ask myself some questions and follow up with answers. Will I be working with or without a team, without. What I need for to make this project, a computer that has the Minecraft Education Edition on it. What I plan to create, a Minecraft plat-former. What unique qualities does it have that separate it from the rest, stylized color choices and creative design choices. Those are the type of questions you have to ask yourself when doing a project.
Using Minecraft Education Edition, I created a Minecraft plat-former (or Adventure Map) because I wanted to test how I could fit older world designs of Minecraft into a newer version. What I mean is that I have something close to this at home, a world called Random Land. In it, I created a couple of things like parkour courses, class and level systems, as well as a story line that is original to myself. So I started to make remake it in this newer version of Minecraft.
During this process, I learned how to properly create diagonal parts of a building. What I did was code the agent to go in a back/forward and right/left motion and have it place it backwards. At first I measured out the distance of the diagonal part and used bookshelves to measure. After getting the proper units of travel, I put the information into the cod and let the agent build the diagonal, and it worked.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to creative communicator because I created an adventure map for others to use. I used this world to express my creativity of a story I was trying to make. It is about a group of rebels going against a large corporation called Rich Sky. This would be the first level/staring point, a tutorial for some basic features.
A challenge I overcame on this project was building the more complex structures. I was able to do it by measuring the build by using alternating blocks. I would make an outline depending on what the build was, like the base of it or the walls, and then count out the number of blocks the agent would need to place and then get him to do the entire thing in one go.
Given a chance to do this again, I would add more areas of the build. The reason why I would change it is because I want to show more of a story or some more features. Perhaps it would be more inclusive instead of, explore this house and get to top, I mean that I could have a better story than that.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in indie game development. I think this is a good connection because this is basically a model version of a full game.
