This video includes the controller in use, it was made with cardboard, duct tape, Plato and a Makey Makey kit. It shows that allows the onscreen characters to move and click.
Using A Makey Makey kit, I created a simple controller because I wanted to experiment. I wanted to see if my design would work or not. However, parts did work out in the end.
During this process, I learned having earth to earth at all times is a very important feature. The reason I say this is because multiple times during the taping of the project, ( or failed recordings ) I forgot to hold the earth clip and the buttons wouldn't work any more.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I had to design the box shell that decorates the out side. What, you think that was an accident that it looks that way, yes, but I have the look I wanted; the classic square shell with a joystick and buttons, without the joystick, I didn't have the time to add it.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the time limit of 55 minutes. I was able to do it by going very fast and accidentally forgetting to upload the pictures. Don't worry though, I will have them uploaded eventually.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the appearance and no joystick. The reason why I would change it is because I wanted it to look more appealing and I wanted to have a joystick so that I can not have to use my fingers. Also it was in my design for it to have a joystick.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Product Design. This is because of the amount of creativity and smarts needed to create a new controller for a company like Nintendo, who is always changing their controller.
