UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The month of October is filled with numerous games for the Hornets Volleyball Team. The Hornets kicked off the month of October by being invited to the Washburn Invitational Volleyball Tournament on October 4th. The Hornets defeated Washburn, Flasher, Grant County, and Garrison 2-0. They also tied 1-1 with Lewis & Clark- Berthold in the tournament. With the Hornets winning all but one of their games they were crowned champions of the tournament.
The Hornets next game would be played at home versus the Rugby Panthers on October 7.The Hornets brought their momentum from the tournament and defeated the Panthers 3-0. On October 9th the Grafton Spoilers would come into town to face off against the Hornets. The Hornets didn’t play their best volleyball and lost 3-0.
The Hornets will have five more games in the month of October and those games included Benson County, May-Port-C-G, Central Mclean, TGU, and Bottineau. The Hornets will also have senior night in the month of October when they play TGU in Harvey.

The month of October is crucial for football teams to buy themselves a ticket into the playoffs. It will show you the teams who are legitimate and the teams who are not authentic. The Hornet Football Team started out the month off by going to Grafton on October 3rd. That game would not go in favor of the Hornets due to Grafton Spoiler outscoring the Hornets 22-18. With the Hornets losing that game they would have to rely on other teams to help them reach the playoffs. T
he Thompson Tommies would have to lose out and the Hornets have to win out. The Hornets would rebound in their second game of October when they played the Turtle Mountain Braves in Belcourt on October 10th.That game the Hornets were able to get a defensive and a special team touchdown as well as four offensive touchdowns. With the Hornets winning they were hoping that the Thommies would lose but they didn’t. The Thommies won 14-12 over the Grafton Spoilers ending the Hornet chances of making the playoffs.
The Hornets have one last game on their season and they will be hosting the number four ranked team in the state the Park River Aggies for senior night. With a win against the Aggies they would go to 5-4 and end the season with a winning record.

Freshman FCCLA students took a field trip with Mrs. Walsh for an FCCLA introduction day in Rolla, And some of our FFA students went to the fall leadership program the Saturday after homecoming with Ms. Free, which was reported to be much fun!
One Act members are keeping up with practices, memorizing lines as quickly as they can for their upcoming performance.
Homecoming Friday was filled with lots of fun and games. Seeing all the senior jeans was super cool; everyone had unique designs and ideas on their jeans. My favorite game was either the unicorn game or the relay, they were very intense! Powderpuff was also very exciting, probably the best games I have seen in a long time! Buzz was also rocking his new look, it suits him very much.
The seniors won best class Float, the Spirit Jug, and Powder Puff Champs. The MVP of Powder Puff was MacKenzie Sagert and the MVCoaches were the Sophomore boys Dylan Heitmann and Kyson Zerr.
We went on a field trip to Rugby for POD where we sat in on a trial with photos and evidence from 2005. The case was supposed to be set up for failure so people could use critical thinking skills. It was humorous to see all of the people on the stand get frustrated.
If you see any decorated tissue boxes in teachers, paras, or the counselor's offices, they are from the Anatomy students. They are supposed to represent the dermis, epidermis, and one skin disease. Thankfully there have not been any difficult tests or quizzes in any classes!

The juniors went on a field trip to Fort Totten where they explored the building and learned of its history as both a military fort and a Native American boarding school. Many HHS students are going to explore health careers October 14th with Sanford Health. The juniors in chemistry class are learning about different elements as they study a case searching for a replacement metal for tin in tin cans.
Homecoming was a blast with powderpuff, many fun games, a parade, an exciting pep rally, and best of all, the Hornets ended the night by defeating the Panthers 35-14 in a thrilling game of football!
The Hornet football team secured a win at homecoming night against the Rugby Panthers! The Hornets volleyball team also defeated the Rugby Panthers on Pink Night. With the help of the community, the volleyball team raised about $1,800 for Memory Muscha Henderson, a former Hornet volleyball player and 2003 HHS graduate who is now battling a form of leukemia. A huge thanks to all of those who came to support our sports teams! October 24th will be the last volleyball home game of the season vs TGU as well as senior night where we will honor the six seniors on the team.

We have moved on to the second full month of the school year already. Coming into the new month the Sophomores finally got new computers after having to suffer broken charging ports, missing keycaps, and lag for five years. The new cases are very handy as well; they basically function as well as a backpack would.
Recapping on Homecoming week, which felt like not too long ago, was actually almost 3 weeks ago already. Powder Puff was sadly a loss for the Sophomores. Unfortunately we lost to the Seniors and took second place. We held them for as long as possible and neither team scored anything for a while. Our team got tired and the seniors made two touchdowns to win the game but it was still so much fun to play. Fortunately we still have two more chances to win.
From what I was able to see many of the parade floats were quite good and I believe the seniors had every right to win that category of Homecoming. The parade is so fun seeing all the happy people, throwing candy, and the smiles when the kids get the candy is sweet! This year, Rebekah got to be Mrs. Docktor's right hand helper. That was an enjoyable job! The prep rally was good with all the entertainment and Amy Richter and a few other football and volleyball moms dressing up like their kids. That was a funny moment! This last Thursday part of the Sophomore class traveled along with some Juniors and Seniors to the Minot Aviation Museum. Despite sitting through what seemed like endless presentations we got to look at some pretty cool airplanes and helicopters.
We have been reading To Kill a Mocking Bird in English class. We are almost done with the book, and I will say it has been a good book so far. In Ag we are working on building food chain 3D model habitats for wildlife animals that we got to pick. In History we have been learning about different religions. We are doing a project on religions and seeing how they compare and contrast to Catholicism, looking at people who formed the religion, and more. In foods we have been doing cleaning lessons and cooking with apples. We have made dehydrated apples and apple sauce.
This week we will host our last home game of the football season against Park River on Thursday. Volleyball season is still ongoing with a game on Monday against Benson County in Fessenden. Thankfully we have a shortened week of school which everybody needs. Having an extra two days to vacation, relax and enjoy the fall weather.

The class of 2029 has been busy in all aspects these passing weeks. Whether it's sports, FCCLA, FFA, one act, or just school in general it seems like the days are flying by because of all the activities around us; here's just a glimpse of what we’ve been up to.
The freshman had a very good homecoming week. We brought our hornet spirit and got that Powder Puff Spirit Award we were after, securing that homeroom breakfast. Our powderpuff team of Josie Finley, Cecilia Graumann, Tenley Grossman, Brinlee Hase, Gabriella Heisler, Ayla Held, and Daizee Loen was coached by two of our football boys, Elliot Krenzel and Carson Reimche. All throughout the week, we brought out our best outfits for dress up and tied for first place with points. The Class of 2029 Homecoming Float’s theme was “Grill the Panthers” as we were dressed up as barbeque dads at a backyard BBQ cooking up some wild panther and playing cornhole. Class competition games included Boy Trivia, Table Surfing, Break the Horn, Plunger Relay Race, and Find That Person. At the football game, we destroyed the Rugby Panthers 35-14. Our very own Carson Reimche, number 17, even got in on some of the playing action as his position at defensive end.
Currently, we’re finishing up the varnish on our stools which will go to the county fair to be judged, and maybe the state fair too (if we’re handy enough!) FACS class is full of yummy smells and baked goods like always, we also picked up garbage along the highways by the airport in FACS to show the community some good service. Mrs. Walsh is going into the FCCLA unit. But that won’t stop us from making delicious treats, as we just made orange juliuses and some killer rice krispies.
We are still selling The Worlds Best Chocolates for our class fundraiser, so if you're hungry for chocolates you know where to find us! In English, Mrs. Dockter is venturing into the works of William Shakespeare as we prepare to read “Romeo and Juliet” in the near future. Some of the students in Peer to Peer are getting involved in the Buzz Bites and Beverages coffee shop located in the concessions stand Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Mornings. In Physical Science we've been working on unit two; finding speeds, distances, acceleration, velocity, and more! Our unit two test is approaching very soon.
Sooner than we all might think, on the 16th and 17th we’ll have fall break, so you better come back to school in some cozy fall jackets.

UPDATES COMING SOON
Since homecoming week, the 7th graders have been busy.
In school we have been challenged with state testing, immediately followed by a science test on the 15th of Oct. Beside testing we have been working on our egg drop experiment for STEM. In English we were assigned a story and are responsible for creating a video game that is designed around the plot of the story. In Mr. Schuh's History class we are approaching our chapter on Oceana and finishing with Australia.
Junior high volleyball girls have finished their season, it was long and hard, but lots of fun. Junior high football boys have been very successful this month, dominating both Bottineau and New Rockford. They will be having their last game on the 14th of Oct.
