Dear Parents/Carers,
This year has flown by and suddenly we are here again, waving off another wonderful group of Year 6 pupils as they embark on the next exciting part of their journey. This final term has been incredibly busy for everyone in school, but Year 6 have probably topped the list with preparing a fabulous production of 'Super Stan', an amazing PYP exhibition and their rather emotional Leaver's assembly - well done year 6, you have done us and yourselves proud and we wish you lots of luck at your secondary schools.
The rest of the school has also been pretty busy, with Enterprise Week, Music Week and Sports Week, all on top of their usual learning! Lot's of fun has been had by all and hopefully the children have all made some great memories alongside their learning.
Moving forward, we are hoping to create more opportunities for parents to be involved with school on a more regular basis. There will be 'stay and play' sessions, subject workshops and wellbeing coffee mornings across the year and we look forward to seeing you there if you can join us! We are also planning more trips, visitors and extra curricular activities for the children to enhance and support our curriculum. We would love to have parents join us to share information with the children about their careers, religious festivals/practices and other special events or information that can support the children in learning about the wider world beyond school. If you think you would be interested in coming in to talk to the children, either in a class or assembly, please do let us know!
In the meantime, have a wonderful and safe summer. We look forward to seeing all of the children back in school on Friday 2nd September.
Kind regards
Nicole Galinis
Principal
New start time!
As per my previous letter, please note the new start time will be 8.45am from September. Currently 9am is our official start time and it is only after this time that children are counted as being late to school. From September they need to be in by 8.45am for registration. The gates will be unlocked at 8.35am to allow 10 minutes to walk your child/ren to their classroom/s. Classrooms can be accessed from 8.40am. Most people already arrive in time for an 8.45am start so we cannot see this posing too much of a problem, but we will monitor how this works and make changes if needs be.

Enterprise Week
During ‘Enterprise Week’, every year group was challenged to design, make, advertise and market a product to sell for a profit. We had some wonderful badges, bracelets and biscuits, along with many other ingenious ideas and the children have been able to choose what they want to spend their profits on. Some have chosen to buy playtime equipment or toys for during wet-play, while others decided to spend it on ice creams!
Overall, congratulations go to Year 5 who made the most profit during the week: they chose to make and sell friendship bracelets, seed bombs and home-made bird feeders. The children in Chestnut and Silver Birch decided that they would like to celebrate their win by wearing non-school uniform, watching a movie and enjoying some sweets and ice lollies. It was also decided by the children that they would donate the majority of their profit (nearly £100!) to Cancer Research. We are extremely proud of their caring and generous decision to donate their profits to what we're sure you will agree is a very worthy cause!
On Friday 1st July, Miss Tennant and Mrs Bruce had the pleasure of taking ten Year 6 students to the LAT Cricket Competition, held at Bexley Cricket Club. It was a fantastic day, where children were given the chance to play several other primary schools and receive coaching from some ex-England cricket players. The children showed huge improvements in their cricket skills throughout the day, but also supported their teammates and showed excellent resilience and sportsmanship. They were a real credit to the school.
School Uniform
Please make sure your child is wearing the correct school uniform. If you are unsure what they should be wearing please see below. Some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils have modelled the correct uniform beautifully! Please note that trainers are not acceptable unless it is a P.E. day. If your child needs to wear trainers for a day while you find/replace their school shoes then please send in a note to explain.
Grey or black trousers/tailored shorts/skirt or pinafore dress/summer dress – red check.
White shirt/polo shirt – which must be worn tucked in.
Red sweatshirt/cardigan/fleece.
Black shoes – not trainers. No open toed or backless shoes.
Grey/black/white socks or red/grey/black tights.
Children should come to school wearing their P.E kit on P.E days. Parents will be informed about which days their child has P.E on, via the Year Group newsletters at the start of the year.
Black shorts or black tracksuit (plain black with no patterns, stripes or large logos).
Both top and bottoms should be black. The only alternative to a black sweatshirt or hoody is to wear a red school sweatshirt or fleece.
P.E. T-shirt in House colours: Leopards – Green, Lions – Red, Pumas – Blue, Tigers – Yellow
Trainers (velcro fastening for children who are unable to tie their own laces please.)
Jewellery such as watches and stud earrings must be removed and hair must be tied back. If earrings cannot be removed then tape should be provided to cover earrings during P.E. Children will need to put this on and remove it themselves.
