My name is Nicole Dorhout. I've been in education and and off for 27 years. I graduated from Morris (MN) High School and then attended South Dakota State University, earning degrees in English Education and a minor in French. I also competed in cross country and track at SDSU and still follow the Jacks closely.

I have taught in Aitkin, MN; Brookings, SD; Starmont (Arlington, IA); Clay Central/Everly, and HMS. At HMS I have taught fifth-grade language arts/reading/social studies, seventh-grade language arts, eighth-grade language arts, historical literature, Technical Writing, Introduction to Journalism, and English 10.

I am the head girls track & field coach, head boys & girls cross country coach, and the adviser for the Middle School Fitness Club.

I have been married to Mark for 27 years and have three children. Casey is married to Valorie and lives in Polk City, IA, Hunter is a senior majoring in computer engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), and Johanna is a freshman--majoring in biomedical engineering--at UNL. We also have a two-year-old puppy named Jax. (Or is it Jacks???)

In my spare time, I like to exercise, attending sporting events, and relax at our cabin on Lake Cochrane in eastern South Dakota.

My educational philosophy is that I want not only to help students to make a good living but also a good life.
