You're never to old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.

Welcome to the SCI Middle School Classroom

Juanita Anliker

This is my 17th year teaching at HMS. After being an associate for AEA preschool and another district, I decided to go back to college to get my teaching degree. I graduated (with my daughter) from Iowa State University and then received my masters degree from Graceland University. I am married to Jay, have 2 adult children, and 5 grandchildren. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, sew, camp, travel, snorkel, work in my yard, and bike.

Lessons for Math, Science, and English are taught using the "Interactive Notebooks." After the lesson, we extend our learning through worksheets, writings, and experiments.

Interactive Notebooks are used as a unique form of note taking. Lessons are done with drawings, 3-D elements, cut outs, diagrams, shapes, or pictures. All lessons include spaces for the students to write notes. Each page is put in binder and ready for students to use as reference throughout the year.
