All students participate in rigorous academic curriculum, including:
English Language Arts
Math
Reading
Science
Social Studies
Writing
Students follow a rotating schedule, participating in the following Performing Arts areas:
Dance
Drama
Instrumental
Physical Education
Production (Grade 5 and up)
Stagecraft
Vocal
PreK through Grade 4 students participate in 45 minutes of performing arts classes daily
Grades 5 through 8 students annually select two of the performing arts areas mentioned above as "concentrations." Students will also be assigned a dance class and a PE class to meet state physical education requirements.
Grade 5 and 6 students will attend a 45 minute performing arts class each day.
Grade 7 and 8 students will attend a 75 minute performing arts class each day.
Grade 1 through Grade 8 students may participate in an Enrichment Block, which supports academic interventions. If a student is not needed in the academic classroom for additional instruction, s/he will attend an enrichment class. Enrichment classes are taught by Kinsella's Performing Arts staff, & provide more intensive instruction in a focused artistic area.
Enrichment classes for Grades 6 through Grade 8 students will provide an intensive rehearsal & production process, supporting our Middle School Dramas, Middle School Dance Concerts, Middle School Vocal Concerts, & Middle School Band Concerts.
PreK through Grade 5 students will have a chance to share their talents in grade level showcase performances.
All students attend Kinsella's performances during the school day throughout the year.
All students have the opportunity to participate in teacher selected arts integration and cultural exposure programming, brought to Kinsella through Hartford Performs.
