9th Grade College Planning

Fall

• Read school bulletin boards frequently for internship and scholarship postings

• Develop positive study skills

• Begin to familiarize yourself with Naviance

• Work on developing a strong relationship with teachers

• Surround yourself with at least three friends that have good study habits and perform well academically

• Use the school planner to keep track of school assignments and due dates

• Get involved in afterschool activities: band, clubs or community service opportunities

• Set academic goals for yourself and track your milestones

• Attend and participate in college and career field trips

Spring

• Begin dialog with parents, teachers and school counselor about your strengths and how to apply them academically and outside of school

• Visit the College and Career Specialist to learn about upcoming college and career events, useful scholarship search tips

• Enroll in summer school classes if needed
