to Advocates of Classical Magnet!

How is Advocates different from Parent Senate?

Advocates partners with CMS Parent Senate and School Governance Council (SGC) with a number of parents being active members of Advocates as well as Parent Senate and SGC. Advocates also affords an opportunity for Classical parents, alumni and staff to stay engaged with their CMS family after their enrollment or staff relationship has come to a close. In fact, many current Advocates members are parents of CMS graduates or past CMS staff who remain passionate about the value of Classical Magnet's education opportunities.

Think, Discuss, Act — Join us for a meeting!

All are welcome to attend Advocates meetings and participate in Advocates sponsored activities. Board members must be voted in. Meetings are held at 6pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Did you know?

Enrolling in Classical, or other Sheff magnet schools, is one way you and your family are taking action towards social justice through participation in an inclusive education environment. Classical Magnet exists to provide integrated, quality education as part of the solution to address racial and economic isolation of Hartford students as recognized by the Sheff vs. O’Neill Connecticut Supreme Court decision. Advocates of Classical Magnet collaborates with the Sheff Movement in its continued mission to ensure policies, practices and attitudes support integrated education for all students.
