NEW Arrival & Dismissal Plan

2021-2022 School Year

Arrival

Grades K-4 Arrival

Drop Off/Walkers: Students will be dropped off in the parent loop and will walk along the patio directly to classroom doors. Those parents wishing to walk their children in will also follow this route. Staff will be strategically located outside to aid in directing students to their appropriate locations.(No parent is allowed to enter the building at arrival unless they have office permission in which case they will enter the front door) If older siblings are being dropped at the same time as K-4 students those siblings will enter the front door or will need to come back around the building to the front door if dropping a K-4 student.

Breakfast will be brought to the classrooms

Bus: Students will exit the bus and follow the patio around the side of the building directly to the classroom doors similar to drop offs.

Dismissal

Grades K-4 Dismissal

Pick up numbers.

At the start of the year parents will be issued 2 card stocks to post in their car with a specific number that is assigned to their child. They will tape this to the back passenger side window of the car to be easily seen by the pickup point person. The color will apply to a specific teacher and the number to a specific student.

Pick up/Walkers: All students will remain in the classroom staff point-person will identify the color and number of the parent pickup sign and then text that teacher to release that student outside the patio (or down to the front door in inclement weather). As a student approaches the car we will visually ensure they are with the correct adult and release them.

Bus: Students will remain in their classes and we would make an announcement as to which bus is being dismissed and then that group will dismiss their bus outside the patio doors or down the main hallway during inclement weather. Staff will be stationed outside to direct students and the bus monitor will check off students entering the bus and radio office to locate missing students.

Please Note: Due to these new procedures and the amount of time required during the dismissal process, we will not be dismissing students early after 3:00pm (after 12:00pm on Wednesdays) without office approved prior notice.

Arrival

Grades 5-8 Arrival

Pick up/Walkers: Students will be dropped off outside the side entrance of the school on Pulaski Dr. Ideally parents would pull down Coleman St. off of Flatbush and proceed to Pulaski drive and then exit onto Brookfield. This way the flow of traffic will be one way. Staff will be strategically located outside to aid in directing students to their appropriate locations. Breakfast will be available upon entering the building.

Bus: Those students taking the bus will enter the front entrance of the school grab breakfast at the bottom of the stairwell and report to class. Students in 7/8 will report up the first stairwell and 5/6 will walk down by the gym stairwell to head upstairs.
