B.R.I.C.K. Education Theme

A "breakthrough" philosophy permeates our school. Staff models the utilizing of "breakdowns" as stepping stones in the creation process, opportunities for generating "breakthroughs". An environment of "coaching" supports student's work, in which all students are "coaches" and the staff members are "head coaches" for mutual support in academic, physical, artistic and interpersonal endeavors.

Breakthrough's character education curriculum raises student awareness in 5 major areas:

B Changing Breakdowns to Breakthroughs by applying problem solving strategies

R Taking Responsibility for being the author of one's life by mastering one's self-talk and subsequent actions

I Understanding how Integrity (keeping one's word) empowers relationships and goals

C Increasing Contributing to others within the classroom, school and community

K Increasing one's Knowledge in all areas to better inform one's choices
