Our privilege system at Arroyo Seco is set up to support the three areas of student life that contribute most to success: Behavior, Attendance and Grades
All students who are in good standing in those three areas will have the privilege of accesses all extra events & opportunities on campus. These events & opportunities include: intramurals, campus activities, dances, etc.
The following reasons will cause a student to lose privileges:
Attendance - 15 or more tardies within one 10 week Quarter will lose privileges for the following quarter; students on an attendance contract will not have privileges
Grades - 8th graders need to be in Jr High Promotee status, or passing all classes to participate in 8th Grade End of Year Activities such as Universal Studios
Behavior - The foundational goal of this category is to address the types of behaviors that erode a positive school community culture. School administrative action for the below violations in a quarter can lose privileges for the remainder of the quarter. If occurring after the 3rd week, LOP status will extend to the following quarter.
Fighting
Bullying*
Provoking and/or continuing conflict among people
Intimidating, humiliating, harassing others; including bias-motivated actions based in race, gender, faith, etc.
Nicotine, alcohol, drugs
Bothering or trying to pressure other students involved in a school investigation or disciplinary action
Significant willful defiance or disruption of school activities, significant willful violations of social norms
School/classroom disruptions ongoing after administrative corrective actions
*Bullying determined as repeated, unwanted, aggressive behavior among school-aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance
How can you get yourself off the LOP list once you are on it?
The LOP list resets after each 10 week Quarter
If you lost privileges due to behavior, then keep a good discipline history in the CURRENT Quarter in order to get privileges back NEXT Quarter.
If you lost privileges due to attendance, and you were tardy too often last quarter, then improve to show excellent attendance in the CURRENT Quarter in order to get privileges back NEXT Quarter. Excellent attendance is less than 2 tardies in a week, on average.
