Harrow High School celebrated Cultural Day on Friday, 2nd May, in the school canteen. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore a variety of international cuisines and learn more about the diverse cultures within our school community.
The canteen featured a selection of global dishes, and students wore traditional clothing to celebrate their heritage. It was a wonderful occasion to embrace and showcase the vibrant diversity that makes our school so unique.
As part of the day, learners were invited to bring in a £1 donation for the Malala Fund. This meaningful gesture gave the celebration an added purpose, supporting the vital mission of promoting education for girls around the world.
We hope the students enjoyed this special day filled with culture, food, and fun!
On Wednesday 19th June, schools across the UK will be celebrating National Thank a Teacher Day — a chance to show our appreciation for the incredible work teachers and school staff do every day.
Parents and careers can join in by sending a free ‘Thank You’ e-card to a teacher or member of staff who’s made a difference.
👉 Send yours at: thankateacher.co.uk
Let’s come together to celebrate the dedication, kindness, and passion of our school staff — and let them know just how appreciated they are.
Thank you for your support!
What an adventure! Over two action-packed days, our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award learners hiked from Amersham Station to Rickmansworth, covering more than 30,000 steps each day through beautiful countryside.
From map reading and pitching tents to cooking meals and navigating woodland trails, learners tackled every challenge with enthusiasm and teamwork. Highlights included a sunny lunch stop on a village green, evening games at the campsite, and a magical night around the campfire, complete with toasted marshmallows and plenty of laughter.
It was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, friendships, and resilience – and every learner rose to the occasion. An unforgettable experience all round – well done to everyone who took part!

Year 10 students had the exciting opportunity to visit the British Museum, where they explored some of the world’s most fascinating historical artifacts. From ancient Egyptian mummies and Roman inscriptions to Greek vases and Māori carvings, the exhibits offered a powerful look at global cultures and civilizations.
The trip began in the impressive Great Court before students ventured into galleries that spanned thousands of years of human history. Many were amazed by the intricate details of the artifacts and how they connected to what they've been learning in class.
“It really made history feel real,” said one student.
The visit inspired curiosity, reflection, and a greater appreciation for the past. It was a day of learning that won’t be forgotten any time soon!

Our Year 7 Enterprise Day was a huge success, thanks to the hard work and organisation of our Year 12 BTEC Business students, who planned and delivered the event as part of their coursework.
All Year 7 students took part in a range of engaging activities during a double lesson, including Guess the Flag, Guess the Logo, and Space Trivia. These fun tasks helped build teamwork and problem-solving skills in an interactive way.
Following the activities, Year 7's worked in groups to design a unique t-shirt, using their creativity and collaboration skills. Each group then presented their ideas to the class, with the most original and well-thought-out designs winning a prize.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and showcased fantastic enthusiasm throughout. Well done to our Year 12 BTEC Business class for their leadership, creativity, and professionalism

In the lead-up to their A-level exams, our Year 13 learners benefited from a series of focused morning briefings designed to reinforce subject knowledge and provide targeted academic support.
Mr. Preda led the Sociology briefing, helping learners strengthen their understanding of key topics and refine their exam techniques. Meanwhile, Mr. Myers delivered the Chemistry briefing, guiding learners through complex material and offering practical revision strategies.
These sessions were a valuable part of our Sixth Form support programme, ensuring learners felt confident and well-prepared during this important stage of their academic journey.

Year 13 learners celebrated their final official day of Sixth Form with a fun-filled awards assembly. From “Most Sick Days” to “Class Clown,” “Most Likely to Become Prime Minister,” and “Most Likely to Go on Love Island,” the class of 2025 definitely went out with a bang!
But it wasn’t all jokes and laughter. A heartfelt message from the Head of Sixth Form reminded everyone to treasure family and always remember that how you make others feel is what truly matters.
Now that the final day is over, the countdown to university begins! With exams and booster sessions left to tackle, learners are ready to take on the world, heading off to new adventures and opportunities. Sixth Form may be over, but the real journey is just beginning!
As part of their GCSE English studies, our Year 10 students had the exciting opportunity to attend a fresh and dynamic reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, featuring rap and R&B. This innovative co-production, presented by Hackney Empire, Belgrade Theatre, and Bristol Old Vic, brought Shakespeare’s iconic love story to life in a way that resonated with a modern audience while staying true to the original text.
For our Year 10 students, this trip was an invaluable experience, allowing them to see how Romeo and Juliet can be reinterpreted for today’s world. Many students shared how much the performance helped them connect with the play on a deeper level, making the complex language and emotions of the original text easier to understand. It also sparked important discussions about the power of adaptation and how literature can be brought to life through modern creative approaches.
This trip was a fantastic opportunity for the students to see their GCSE studies come alive in front of them and provided an inspiring example of how classical literature can be reimagined for contemporary audiences.

Our learners are rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty in Gardening Club. This hands-on experience allows them to step away from the classroom and engage directly with nature. As they plant and care for the garden, they’re not only learning about the environment but also developing essential skills like teamwork, responsibility, and patience. Gardening Club is more than just about planting—it's about fostering a deeper connection to the world around them and watching their efforts come to life.
Today, Year 7 students will have the chance to enjoy a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the school hall. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to experience a live theatre performance of Shakespeare’s magical play. We hope that this experience sparks an interest in theatre and the works of Shakespeare, and offers them a deeper understanding of the story beyond what they read in class. We believe this is a fantastic way for the students to see how a play can truly come to life on stage. It’s a wonderful learning opportunity.
Our learners had an amazing time at SicilyFEST London, guided by our fabulous Italian teacher, who brought the culture to life!
From street food like panelle and pizza fritta to sweet treats like cassata, they explored real Sicilian flavours while learning about the rich heritage behind them.
A fun, hands-on cultural experience they won’t forget!

Jordan Campbell - our resident storyteller - has been working with Year 7 to create and then perform their own stories. He came in to perform some stories during World Book Day for Y7, 8 and 9. The response to his story was so enthusiastic that we asked him to come back in and deliver a workshop to a mixed group of learners from Y7, Y8 and Y9 as well as select Y10s. During the workshop he told them a 2000 year old story that had them super gripped and entertained. They then had the rest of the session to work on retelling their favourite part of his story with some time at the end to try performing it.
The students really had a good time writing and thinking about the difference between acting, and telling a story. They particularly just liked listening to Jordan. Jordan also asked me to shout-out Abbas Hasnaini in Year 9 and James Day in Year 8 who he said were natural performers.

Dear Parents,
Thank you for your feedback regarding our co-curricular provision, shared via the Personal Development Survey.
We would like to reassure you that we have taken several steps to ensure the safety, engagement, and well-being of our learners during after-school clubs:
Club Timings and Supervision: All clubs finish promptly at 4.15 pm, and learners are walked off-site by staff to ensure a safe and orderly departure.
Enhanced Security: We have increased our on-site security, with staff positioned at the school gates until 4.30 pm to supervise and support students as they leave.
Attendance Tracking: Registers are taken for all clubs, allowing us to accurately track attendance and follow up where needed.
Diverse Club Offerings: We have expanded our range of clubs to ensure there is something for everyone - including academic, creative, sports, and wellbeing-focused activities. This helps us cater to a broad range of interests and talents.
Participation in co-curricular activities offers significant benefits to students' mental and physical health, including reduced stress, improved mood, better fitness, increased confidence, and opportunities for social connection and teamwork.
We are committed to continually improving our offer and appreciate your support in encouraging learners to get involved.
Kind regards,
Ms M.Bowen

We are thrilled to celebrate one of our students who has secured a place at Oxford University to study Law. This achievement is a testament to their hard work, grit, and determination.
As they shared, “Hard work, grit, and determination always pay off: Getting into Oxford for Law is proof of this. Every hurdle along the way challenged me and allowed me to grow, which I couldn’t have done without Harrow High School supporting me every step of the way!"
Their advice for others? “Getting into Oxford is not for the faint-hearted, but my biggest advice is to be yourself at every stage. They want someone living and breathing the subject they’ve applied for. Read, take the initiative, and start immediately!"
We are proud to have supported this student on their journey. Their story is a powerful reminder that with dedication and the right support, anything is possible.

General Health & Safety Reminders:
With the warmer weather and outdoor activities increasing, it's essential to keep a few health tips in mind:
Hydration: Ensure your child brings a refillable water bottle to school every day to stay hydrated.
The holidays are an ideal time to replenish any uniform items your child has out grown or lost. All children are expected to wear the complete Harrow High School.
White polo shirt and navy jumpers must have the school logo. They are available from Pullens, 48-50 Church Road, Stanmore, HA7 4AH. You can also order them online at www.uniform4kids.com but please order early to allow time for delivery.
In cold weather children should be wearing coats. We ask that they are of a dark colour (preferably navy or black) with some fluorescent strips. No coat should be obviously branded. For additional warmth, children are allowed to wear base-layers in white, navy or black underneath their uniform. Woollen hats, scarves and gloves are permitted, once again in dark colours. Girls can wear either skirts or trousers. Skirts must be between the knee and ankle.
Please make sure that all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child's name.
We are encouraging all our parents and carers to make sure that they have access to our Parent Portal & App. The Parent Portal and App are key ways for school to communicate with you.
If you have not downloaded the App or accessed the Portal, please contact the ICT Team (ictteam@harrowhigh.com) at Harrow High School who will help you set up your accounts.
The following article will help you get started: Log into the Parent Portal and the Parent App.
