Work-Based Learning

Learning extends far beyond the classroom. Harlem High School's Work-Based Learning program provides students with meaningful opportunities to explore careers, develop professional skills, and apply classroom learning in authentic workplace settings.

Through partnerships with local businesses, industries, healthcare providers, community organizations, and colleges, students gain firsthand experience in careers that align with their interests and future goals. Whether participating in job shadows, internships, apprenticeships, clinical experiences, school-based enterprises, career mentoring, or other workplace experiences, students build the knowledge, confidence, and technical skills needed for success after graduation.

Work-Based Learning helps students connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world careers while developing the essential employability skills that today's employers value most—including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, professionalism, adaptability, and leadership.

At Harlem High School, these experiences are intentionally connected to our College and Career Pathways, allowing students to explore career options, make informed decisions about their future, and graduate with valuable experiences that prepare them for college, careers, military service, apprenticeships, and lifelong success.
