Activity - English - Magic Show
On 26th February 2026, an engaging and imaginative English Literature activity was conducted in Grade 3 as part of the poem “My Magic Hat Is Marvellous.” The poem was taken as a multiple assessment activity to assess students’ recitation skills, voice modulation, expressions, creativity, and stage confidence. To make the poem lively and meaningful, students combined their recitation with a variety of creative magic tricks. Each student confidently came forward, many wearing decorative “magic hats,” and recited the poem with proper actions, facial expressions, and voice modulation. The classroom was filled with excitement, curiosity, applause, and joyful laughter.
The magical performances included:
Making a coin “disappear” and reappear.
Disappearing and reappearing coins from a hat.
The Magic Paper Illusion.”
“The Magical Marble Miracle” .
Lemon floating in salt water and sinking in normal water (density experiment).
Paper folding and transformation tricks.
Ball disappear and reappear tricks.
Vanishing object under a cup trick.
Rubber moving trick and many more.
Some of the tricks were thoughtfully connected to simple STEM concepts, such as lemon sink and float. This interdisciplinary approach helped students understand that many magic tricks are based on scientific principles or illusions.
The activity helped students to:
Develop stage confidence and presentation skills.
Enhance creativity and imaginative thinking.
Build curiosity towards science concepts through fun experiments.
Strengthen listening and observation skills among the audience.
Students thoroughly enjoyed performing their tricks while reciting the poem. Their enthusiasm, confidence, and expressive performances reflected a deep understanding of the poem’s theme. The integration of literature with creativity and science made the session interactive, joyful, and memorable. Overall, the activity was highly successful and provided a wonderful platform for students to showcase their talents while learning in a fun and meaningful way.
