Welcome to Miss Murphy's Fourth Grade Class!

Reading is crucial to developing so many skills. Please encourage your child to read, read, read throughout the year at home. Fourth graders have the opportunity to earn Reading Certificates during the year. This reading can be done in school or at home. It will be fun to track how many books the students read this year. More importantly, there is significant research supporting the notion that children who read at home do better in school than their peers who do not read at home. Students who are good readers also tend to be better spellers, writers, have richer vocabularies, and are more successful in the content areas of Science and Social Studies.
