Mrs. verhoeven's Class
Week 8
Week 8
The students are doing much better on their math facts. Keep practicing with the signature sheets! I am seeing more students who are able to calculate the equations without using our class chart. This is so critical for the future, as next year they will be able to do two and three- digit multiplication and division problems in half the time if they have the facts memorized. We will be finishing our test this week on Unit 1.
The two third classes will be taking a field trip on Oct. 10 to the Pena Planetarium in Visalia. We will eat lunch in the park at Mooney's Grove and visit the museum on site there as well. Our plan is to leave school on the bus at 8:30 and return by 2:00. The combined cost of the field trip will be $6, and I will send a permission slip home on Monday to confirm your consent of FACTS being charged for this amount and allowing your child to attend. If you would like to volunteer to be a chaperone, please let me know as soon as possible. I will need to formulate a list by Oct. 2nd. Thanks so much.
This week your child will receive the assignment for our first book report. It will be due November 10. Please have your child pick a chapter book from our school library or from home by Oct. 3 for this assignment. This book will be read as part of their weekly homework, and it must be a chapter book at their reading level. For those students still looking for a book, we will spend some time this week looking at books from school. Please help your child look for a book at home as well. The diorama project is an at-home project. Thanks!
Thanks for your help with your child's growth. We know you are busy, but your assistance with their homework, helping them pack a healthy lunch and snacks each day, and making sure they get a good night's sleep are so crucial to their learning.
