This Privacy Policy explains how the Hamro Keyboard app ("Hamro Keyboard", "the app", "we", "us") handles information. Hamro Keyboard is a Nepali typing keyboard for iOS published by Hamro Patro. By using the app you agree to this policy.
OUR CORE PROMISE
We do NOT collect, read, log, store, or transmit anything you type. Your keystrokes, the words and sentences you type, passwords, messages, search queries, and the contents of any text field stay on your device and are never sent to us or to anyone else. A keyboard sees everything you type, and we take that responsibility seriously: Hamro Keyboard uses what you type only to put characters into the app you are typing in, on your device, in that moment.
INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
Keystrokes or any text you type.
The contents of messages, emails, documents, search bars, or any field.
Passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive input.
Your contacts, photos, or files.
Your precise location.
Words the keyboard "learns" to improve its suggestions are stored only on your device (and in the app's private, app-only storage). They are never uploaded to us. You can erase them at any time from Settings > Privacy > "Clear learned words".
INFORMATION WE DO COLLECT (ANONYMOUS USAGE DATA)
To understand how the keyboard is used and to improve it, we collect a small amount of anonymous, aggregated usage data through Google Firebase Analytics. This data is about how features are used, never about what you type. It includes things like:
Which keyboard layout/mode is used (for example: Nepali Devanagari, Romanized English-to-Nepali, plain English, or Multi-tap), and when the keyboard is opened.
Which theme is selected, and which in-app settings are changed.
App lifecycle and engagement events (for example: app opened, onboarding completed).
We also automatically receive standard technical and diagnostic information
that comes with analytics, such as:
A device-level analytics identifier (an app-instance ID generated by Firebase). This is not your name, email, Apple ID, or advertising ID.
Device model, operating system version, and app version.
Device language and an approximate region/country, which Firebase derives from your IP address. We do not collect or store your precise location, and the IP address itself is not retained for our analytics.
This usage data is not linked to your real-world identity, and we do not use it
to track you across other apps or websites.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the anonymous usage data described above only to:
Understand which features people use so we can improve and prioritize them.
Diagnose problems and improve stability and performance.
Make product decisions about the keyboard.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not use it for advertising, and the app does not show ads or use an advertising identifier (IDFA).
FULL ACCESS ("ALLOW FULL ACCESS")
iOS may ask you to grant "Full Access" to the keyboard. Hamro Keyboard works without Full Access. Granting it enables certain features:
Haptic (vibration) feedback while typing.
Emoji and sticker insertion.
Sending the anonymous usage data described above (a keyboard has no network access at all unless Full Access is granted).
Even with Full Access enabled, we still never collect or transmit what you type. Full Access does not change our core promise above.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We use Google Firebase Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to process the anonymous usage data described in this policy. Google processes this data on our behalf. You can learn how Google handles data here:
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
How Google uses information from sites/apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
We do not integrate any advertising networks or other third-party trackers.
YOUR CHOICES AND HOW TO OPT OUT
You are in control of the anonymous usage data:
Open the app and go to Settings > Privacy, then turn off "Send anonymous usage data". When this is off, no usage data is collected or sent from either the app or the keyboard, and any data waiting to be sent is discarded.
You can choose not to grant Full Access, in which case the keyboard cannot send any data over the network.
You can clear locally learned words at any time from Settings > Privacy.
You may also delete the app at any time to stop all data collection.
DATA RETENTION
Anonymous usage data is retained by our analytics provider for a limited period in line with our analytics configuration and Google's retention controls, and is used only in aggregate. Locally stored data (such as learned words and your settings) remains on your device until you clear it or delete the app.
SECURITY
Usage data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Data that stays on your device is kept in the app's private storage area provided by iOS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Hamro Keyboard is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not collect personal information from any user.
INTERNATIONAL USERS
The app is used in various countries, and the anonymous usage data may be processed on servers operated by our analytics provider in other countries. Where applicable law gives you rights over your information, you can exercise the opt-out controls described above, or contact us.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected in this document at its published location.
