The Goals of the B.A.S.E. Program
Eliminate barriers to attendance through collaboration with teachers, administrators, family engagement, social services and community partners.
Promote the overall welfare of individual students which includes physical, emotional, social and mental health needs.
Collaborate with families to develop an action plan for success and decrease absences from school.
Remain knowledgeable of HCS policies and community resources to assist with building positive support systems for families and promoting self sufficiency.

Absence Tips
If your child is going to be absent from school, please:
Call the Attendance Clerk at (757) 825-4440, and report that your child will not be attending school that day and provide an explanation or email: kraftattendance@hampton.k12.va.us with student name, date and reason.
Upon your child's return to school, provide a note to excuse the absence that includes: dates of absence, name of child and reason for absence. You may take a picture of the note and send to kraftattendance@hampton.k12.va.us. Please keep your copy for verification purposes.
Vacations are NOT excused absences.
After 5 parent notifications of absence, additional absences may be considered unexcused without written documentation from a doctor, court, etc.

The Family Support Specialist can link the family to a variety of community resources and can assist in developing a plan to ensure student success and eliminate tardies and/or absences.
