Virtual Virginia

HCS will offer a limited virtual learning option for the 2021-2022 school year through Virtual Virginia, which is operated by the Virginia Department of Education. The program serves students in grades K-12 across the state of Virginia. Courses begin August 24, 2021, and end May 27, 2022. See the Virtual Virginia academic calendar here.

  • Teachers are employed by Virtual Virginia and students collaborate and engage with other students in various Virginia school divisions using the Canvas learning management system.

  • Students opting for virtual learning remain connected to their zoned school, therefore they may participate in all school-sponsored sports, clubs, and activities to include graduation. All instruction will be provided through Virtual Virginia teachers who employ both full-time and adjunct instructors who are Virginia-licensed, highly qualified, and have experience and training in virtual learning.

  • Students and Parents/Guardians should review the Student-Parent/Guardian Handbook 2021-2022 here (K-5) or (6-12).

  • Students can complete their coursework from any location where internet access is available, however, they may be required to report to their zoned school to complete Hampton City Schools, Virginia Department of Education, and/or College Board mandated assessments.

  • General school supplies are found here (K-5) and/or (6-12).

  • Virtual Virginia provides a daily to-do list that suggests ways to be successful in an online course.
