About me
My name is Sheri Anderson and I am your Family Engagement Specialist. This will be my 9th school year at Syms (my 14th school year serving in this position with Hampton City Schools).
I hold a Master's degree in Human Services with a focus in Marriage & Family Counseling and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.
I became a Family Engagement Specialist because I enjoy helping people. I was interested in working in the school system, but did not want to be a teacher. Becoming a FES gave me the opportunity to work with students, but not be confined to the classroom. I have the opportunity to support them academically and socially as well as provide support to their families on how to best help them in their studies. I also get to work with teachers, local organizations, and churches in an effort to locate resources to meet the needs of students and families.
My goal for the 23-24 school year is to continue providing essential support and being a valuable point of contact for students, families, staff, and community partners.
