How to Submit a Pre-Selection for Current 8th Graders (Window open Jan 16-Jan 19, 2024)
Important Reminders
Pre-Academy Selection for Current 8th Graders/Rising 9th Graders is OPTIONAL and is conducted via a lottery.
Families are only able to put in one Pre-Selection academy. Any student that does not receive and confirm a pre-selection lottery seat will have an opportunity to put in four choices during their 9th grade year.
Most students choose during the 2nd 9 weeks of their 9th grade year so as to make an well informed choice.
Academy Selection is completed via ParentPortal via the Parent's account, not the student's.
Students will attend all their classes at the Academy school.
Ex. A student zoned for Bethel attending the Teaching, Education, and Learning Academy at Kecoughtan, will attend all their classes at Kecoughtan and will graduate as a Kecoughtan Warrior.
Students attending a school that is not in their zone, will have their schedule created based around their transportation, IF they need the shuttle bus in the afternoon for any part of the school year.
After students arrive at their zoned school in the morning, they will ride the HCS Shuttle Bus to the Academy School. They will arrive at their Academy School before the first class starts.
In the afternoon, students needing the shuttle will be in a class with other shuttle riders and will leave their Academy School about 20 minutes before the end of the day to return to their zoned school.
