PLEASE NOTE: TEFAP eligibility does not impact your ability to use the FRC, you are able to shop for free even if you do not qualify for TEFAP.
What is TEFAP? It is "The Emergency Food Assistance Program" that distributes USDA foods to individuals and families who use food shelves, on-site meal programs and shelters! It provides to those in need and helps support the agriculture community.
TEFAP is based on eligibility determined by both household size and annual income. A student worker at the front desk should ask if you qualify for it or not at least once/year. This is a requirement of the government and by extension our funding partners: Good In The Hood. Signing (or verbally confirming you cannot sign) is noted in your Pantry Saver account. So you should aonly be asked whether you qualify once a year.
The TEFAP form allows us to stay in compliance with laws so we can continue the work of the FRC. It ensures we remain in good standing with our contributing partners, keeps the pantry in compliance with state laws, and ensures that we continue to receive funding from our partners distributing food to us!
TEFAP also allows the FRC to stock crucial items like produce, meat, milk, eggs, and more weekly!
Again, student workers should ask you about this form once a year. But don’t worry, your personal data will never be shared!!
So please, please... go to the FRC if you need haven't updated your TEFAP eligibility!! We need your help to remain in compliance with the laws so the FRC can continue to be a fantastic resource for our community.
