Meet the Multi-Faith Alliance!

Meet the 2023-2024 Multi-Faith Alliance Scholars!!! We are so excited to introduce this amazing group of individuals to you all. This year the Multi-Faith Alliance (or MFA) looks a little bit different then in years past, so this is the perfect place to learn who we are, and what we do!

Multi-Faith Alliance (MFA) is a student organization made up of the four student leaders of Jewish Student Life (JSL), Hamline Meditation and Mindfulness (HUMM), Muslim Student Association (MSA), and Christian Campus Ministry (CCM) and five other MFA Scholars who receive a stipend.

This year MFA is now merged with what was formally known as Spirituality Scholars. Spirituality Scholars has been run for several years by the University and Associate Chaplains. It was a small group that met weekly and explored the intersections of spirituality and social justice. Members of Spirituality Scholars were paid a yearly stipend for participating and working on a project for the Spring semester.

Meeting once a week with the direction of Assistant Director of Social Justice Programs, Nur Mood, and Associate Chaplain, Rabbi Esther, MFA will be planning programming for combined multi-faith events and explore their own and others spiritual and religious beliefs and values. Each week they have dinner together and a time of self-care and check-in as they build relationships across their diverse religious and spiritual background.

Now let's meet those amazing scholars that make up MFA!

Pictured here are the 2022-2023 Spirituality Scholars. Be on the lookout on our social media for spotlights of our 2023-2024 Multi-Faith Alliance!

2023-2034 Multi-Faith Alliance Scholars

Shani Casper (sophomore with an undecided area of study but leaning towards something in English) is one of our MFA Scholars! Shani comes from a Jewish background and joined the Multi-Faith alliance because she was a part of the spirituality scholars last year. She is excited to see what opportunities lie ahead in MFA!

Jessalin Dock-Barnes (junior majoring in Psychology) is one of our MFA Scholars! Jessalin was a part of spirituality scholars for the past two years and joined the Multi-Faith alliance because of the close-knit community. She is looking forward to a great year in MFA!

MFA Scholars who are also our Religious and Spiritual Life (RSL) Student Leaders:

Elizabeth Evans (junior majoring in neuroscience) is this year's JSL Student Leader and an MFA scholar! This is Elizabeth's second year as JSL student leader and would have been her third year in spirituality scholars as well. Elizabeth is most excited about establishing more connections and learning from others who come from different faith backgrounds this year in MFA.

Fatuma Mohamed (senior majoring in marketing and business analytics) is this year's MSA Student Leader an MFA scholar!  This is Fatuma's first time being president of MSA but she was formally on the MSA board as social media coordinator but is new to being a scholar. Fatuma joined  MSA because she wanted to be closer to her religion and other Muslims. She is looking forward to collaborating to create spaces where there’s respect and opportunities to learn from one another.

Annika McClintock (senior majoring in communication studies) is this year's CCM Student Leader an MFA scholar! Annika began this position last spring but this is her first fall as leader of CCM and first time as a scholar. Annika is most excited about creating events for all different types of Christians on campus, working closely with the other RSL leaders, and having meaningful discussions with the members of MFA.

Raine Lentz (sophomore majoring in psychology) is this year's HUMM Student Leader an MFA scholar! This will be Raine's second year as HUMM student leader and their first year as a scholar. Raine considers themself as agnostic and spiritual, especially in the realms of meditation and yoga. Raine is excited for MFA because they love helping to organize events and connect to the community.

Be on the look out for the MFA events this school year, we are so excited for everything they have in store this school year!
