Sacred Places for Spiritual Advising

The Gathering Place and the Wellspring are two places on campus with the specific purpose of providing a space for students to pray, meditate, and gather for spiritual and religious events. Both are open every day for all students, faculty, and staff who wish to use them. Hours for both locations are 7 a.m. to. 10 p.m. Please contact Public Safety if doors are locked.

The Wellspring

The Wellspring is located on the third floor of the Anderson Center. It is open all week to anyone who wishes to use it and may be reserved for meditation or other programming. The Wellspring is intentionally interfaith.

The Gathering Place

The Gathering Place is located in Sorin Hall. Services provided through the Gathering Place include:

• A spacious and windowed back room where you can pray, meditate, study, or just relax

• Muslim prayer rugs, feet washing stations, and meditation zafus

• A mid-sized meeting space that can be reserved through Events Management

• Area to host events with arrangeable chairs and tables available

The Multi-Faith Alliance

Student leaders from Jewish Student Life (JSL), ChristianCampus Ministry (CMM), Muslim Student Association (MSA), and HU Mindfulness and Meditation (HUMM) lead programs for each student group and together across traditions. All are welcome to participate — religious and non-religious alike.

Mahle Lecture in Progressive Christian Thought

Through the Mahle Lecture series, we explore and articulate contemporary forms of Christian Theology through the lens of Lived Theology. During our annual lecture series, we explore and articulate the thought and spiritual biographies of invited activists, scholars, and community and faith leaders who are actively working to transform society based, at least in part, on their spiritual and religious convictions. The fruit of each lecture series is an articulation of spiritual visions aimed at inspiring moral imagination and civil courage as we face stark inequalities and work together to take the lead in building a more just world.

Visit the Mahle Lecture series website to view lectures from past years.

The 2024 Mahle Lectures will be April 14th-17th.

Multi-Faith Baccalaureate Service

The Hamline University Multi-Faith Baccalaureate serves to celebrate our Hamline graduates through diverse religious expression. We express gratitude for being a spiritually diverse student body. This annual event is for Hamline graduates and their friends and family as well as fellow students who want to honor the graduating seniors. The service takes place on Commencement Weekend.
