Biography
My time in West Hall has been one to remember. When I was younger, I would move from house to house and school to school. This is the first time I was able to find a stable school in which I stayed for more than a year. I have been attending West Hall since the 7th grade and have been acknowledged for my art throughout my years here. I self-taught myself the basic skills for art, but as I became more invested I grew a passion for art. I do not participate in many clubs or activities except for the National Arts Honors Society. I am shy and introverted, but due to the community in the art department of West Hall, I feel comfortable and free to communicate with people. Because of this, I can showcase a side of myself I avoid or hide through my art.
I first started by drawing cute characters from YouTube videos. Then, I moved to drawing and then, finally, painting. I have been sticking to painting since the 10th grade due to my painting class. In this painting class, I recreated The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer, and it was the painting that truly showcased my abilities and skills. I have never been involved in the school, so I had no idea what the IB program was, but yet I joined. Due to Covid-19, the first year in IB Visual Arts was a bit complicated since I could not fully experience it. Now, I am in my second year and have been able to find a piece of myself through my art. I am a mixed media artist who loves working with acrylics, collage, charcoal, pen, and fabric. I am looking forward to a career in the arts whether it be a creative/art director or a freelance artist. Either way, art is the reason I have to look forward to the future.
