Biography
Hello. My name is Keidia Morrow. I am a senior at West Hall High School and will be graduating in May of 2022. I am currently on the Executive Council which is a part of the National Art Honors Society also known as NAHS. When I graduate, I plan on continuing my artistic abilities and becoming an Interior Designer.
Fine Arts has always been a big part of my life, it has not only impacted me for the future but it has changed me metally. When I’m doing anything art related it relaxes me and takes me away from the real world, it’s kind of like yoga. I have attended some different types of Fine Arts throughout all four years of high school.
It all actually started with my eighth grade year when I was taking Intro to Graphic Design. That class was a real eye opener to the great things you can do like making logos to making ROYGBIV into a color palette. Then I went on to high school and followed through with Graphic Design and did the second course of Graphics which is Graphic Design/Production. GDP was a very hands on class. I got to learn how to vinyl a shirt and how to turn that logo into a business. My sophomore year I had the opportunity to move schools and they offered an Intro to Business & Tech which made my learning about logos and vinyling a t-shirt relevant. When I later moved to White County my junior year I chose to join Visual Arts Comprehensive 1. The teacher was amazing. I never knew you could learn so much about one technique. My specialty was blending with anything from graphite pencil to acrylic paint and it was amazing. I also got the opportunity to work with clay which was very interesting. Now as a senior I'm taking Visual Arts Comprehensive 2 with one of the best mentors and art teachers you could possibly think of.
I was taught to open up your mind to different techniques and medians like using cut outs from a magazine. I never would have used anything like that for an art piece. For example I’m not a portrait type artist but, I allowed myself to participate in a community service self portrait project for a kid in Sierra Leone. This project allows us to spread love and support from just our creativity and time itself. I not only participated in that project but many more like completing bulletin boards for my counselor, helping paint faces for the Noche Latina event and planning events for my club. Community service is a big part of being a productive member in any Fine Arts club. Not only has art impacted me in so many ways but it has also given me a sneak peak of what I will be stepping into with Interior Designing. With my business class I can use that and start my own Interior Design industry, with my two course levels in Graphic Design I learned how to design things on the computer and how to work with Adobe and other Softwares like it, and with my classes in Visual Arts I learned how to use things that you didn’t think belong to make something a masterpiece uses different patterns and colors.
Everything I have worked so hard for has led up to big moments like this. I can truly say that I got the full experience that I need to prepare me for college and future references. As someone great once told me “art is the way of life“ and will always be for me.
