Biography
Brenda Islas is a clarinet player in the West Hall High School Band. She was a part of the concert band her freshman year, and later moved up to being in the symphonic band her sophomore year. She participated in the West Hall Band of Silver Marching Band for all four years of her high school career. In the marching band, she served as the clarinet section leader, uniform chair, and librarian under the direction of Mrs. Wilson-Fields. In addition, she is also a member of the Spartan Sound Council as well as participating in mentoring middle school students.
In her senior year, she was selected to be a member of the District 14 Honor Band. Being a part of the band program helped her gain confidence in herself and push past her comfort zones. The music program made a big impact on her life and helped her push through some rough times in her life.
Outside of the band program, Brenda also participates in other clubs including Beta Club, HOPE, National Honor Society, and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). After high school, she plans to attend Georgia Southern University and earn her bachelor's degree in Nursing Science.
