A word from Noah W.

Even though the Halcyonite is a lot of work for me as editor in chief, I am very pleased to be part of it. I have learned a great deal of leadership skills, such as chasing people around for their work (Ms. Ranson is still the best at doing so), organising, proof reading and of course, lots of editing!

2017 was a good year. This is what I have to keep telling myself at least. Actually, outside of Halcyon, it has perhaps been a horrible year! The Brexit deal was signed, Trump is Trump, and Putin is about to get reelected. Hmmm...Let's not get too negative in this editorial, as after all tis' the season to be jolly!

This is one of my favourite editions of The Halcyonite because it really reflects what Halcyon is all about: Creativity, sharing one's thoughts on both serious and hilarious matters and above all team work.

I wish you a very happy holiday and I hope you enjoy this edition as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Lumiere London!

The streets of London will light up in January as almost 50 artists transform the streets with their original light installations. So, if you are suffering from post holiday blues ("We haven't even started our holidays yet!", I hear you yell), missing those festive decorations or are suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), this is the festival for you!

We really hope that you have a wonderful holiday! Read more to see where your teachers and peers are going during this festive season, or how they will be enjoying our wonderful city.

We've also begun to think more about 'mindfulness' and in the next edition and for 2018 we are aiming for positivity, compassion and relaxation! If you have something to share on this topic, please get in touch.

So...wherever you go, whatever you do and whoever you are with, take a deep breath, enjoy the moment and smile :)

Don't forget to:

Check out the Discover London page to find out what's on in London and the Horoscopes' page to see what winter has in store for you! If you're a busybody and just have to see what the Grade 12's will be doing after graduation, look at the page named "Future Plans G12"! Also, let's not forget to see what kind of so-called humorous jokes our teachers have said in the Staff Humour page :)
