HACC Donates Critical Supplies to Local Facilities

This story is part of our ongoing “HACC Heroes” series. We recognize the severity of the global coronavirus pandemic and its impact on our communities. During this challenging time, we want to thank and recognize HACC employees, students and others who are making a difference. The heroes of this story are Associate Dean Megan Brightbill, program directors and faculty in the School of Health Sciences and Vito Damone, interim director of safety and security.

HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, recently donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and supplies to four facilities in the region in response to a need during the global coronavirus pandemic. Please read more in our online newsroom.

Pandemic's Impact on Students

Providing Support for HACC Students

The effects of the global coronavirus pandemic will continue to impact many members of our community for some time. In light of this and to be respectful of donors to the HACC Foundation, HACC and the HACC Foundation have decided to not actively raise funds during this time. However, in response to our supporters who have asked, we do have ways you may help our impacted students.

To provide assistance to students facing hardships such as food insecurity, housing security and financial crises, please consider a contribution to the Fund for Excellence for CARE.

Thank you!

Tax Policy Updates

Benefit from Tax Policy Updates AND Make a Difference

On March 25, 2020, the U.S. States Senate Finance Committee announced tax policy updates designed to provide more assistance due to the impacts of the coronavirus global pandemic:

Sections 2204: Allowance of partial above the line deduction for charitable contributions

The provision encourages Americans to contribute to churches and charitable organizations in 2020 by permitting them to deduct up to $300 of cash contributions, whether they itemize their deductions or not.”

Section 2205: Modification of limitations on charitable contributions during 2020

“The provision increases the limitations on deductions for charitable contributions by individuals who itemize, as well as corporations. For individuals, the 50-percent of adjusted gross income limitation is suspended for 2020. For corporations, the 10-percent limitation is increased to 25 percent of taxable income. This provision also increases the limitation on deductions for contributions of food inventory from 15 percent to 25 percent.”
