Teacher Ben

A passionate educator, lifelong learner, and dedicated pianist, Benjamin Tan inspires students to appreciate and develop a love for music. His musical journey began at the age of seven, and with over 15 years in the field, he has cultivated a deep connection with the piano. 

Driven by his love for the instrument, Benjamin achieved his Grade 8 Piano certification and obtained an ATCL Diploma under the tutelage of renowned pedagogue Dr. Shuenda Wong. He later furthered his musical studies and earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, and studied under Ms. Natasha Vlassenko. 

Throughout his musical career, Benjamin has actively performed and engaged in various musical endeavors. In 2017, he hosted a solo recital, “A Music Journey with Boston”. In 2016, he was selected as one of 16 young Asian musicians to participate in the prestigious Overseas Masters Winter Piano Academy at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey, England. There, he received masterclasses from Dr. Douglas Finch, Dr. Leslie Howard, and Andrew Ball, and had the honor of performing on a Fazioli piano as part of the program. He also has performed at MK Joyworks Music Festivals hosted by the esteemed and late Ms. Lai Mei Kuen achieved a Gold medal. Additionally, he has competed in the UCSI Piano Competition and the Asian Youth Piano Competition (MYOF). 

As an educator, Benjamin is dedicated to engaging students of all ages and backgrounds through diverse teaching methods and resources. He values each student’s unique journey, helping them recognize their strengths and overcome challenges while fostering a deep appreciation for music. Beyond classical performance, Benjamin enjoys improvising on the piano, bringing fun and creativity to game music, Disney classics, and pop songs. When he's not at the piano, he can be found savoring a good cup of coffee and planning outings with friends.
