Pine Bush students follow a curriculum that is aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for the Visual Arts, the National Core Art Standards and skills important to learning in the 21st century. At this level, emphasis is placed on the introduction and reinforcement of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, as well as creating art as a means for documentation, self-expression/identity, story-telling, persuasion, commemoration, communication. and pleasure.
Throughout the elementary art experience, children are exposed to a wide array of materials and techniques to develop and foster creativity, innovation, invention, problem-solving, critical thinking, visual and digital literacy, aesthetics, and global awareness. In the Pine Bush Art room, students collaborate and explore ideas, creating meaningful learning experiences and connections with other disciplines such as math, science, social studies, and technology.
