This year-long course will allow students to integrate and apply mathematics they have learned from their earlier courses. Specifically, students will focus on the four critical areas of Integrated Math III as identified by the California Department of Education:
(1) apply methods from probability and statistics to draw inferences and conclusions from data;
(2) expand understanding of functions to include polynomial, rational, and radical functions;
(3) expand right triangle trigonometry to include general triangles; and
(4) consolidate functions and geometry to create models and solve contextual problems.
This course develops strong connections between the content standards and the eight Standards for Mathematical Practice as students engage in mathematical tasks. The Standards for Mathematical Practice complement the content standards so that students increasingly engage with the subject matter as they grow in mathematical maturity and expertise. A student who successfully completes this course may enroll in a fourth year math course option. Successful completion of this course earns GUHSD math credit. This course meets the University of California “c” mathematics requirement.
