8 OPTIONS FOR FINDING BOOKS AT NO OR LOW COST

Borrowing a GUHSD Library Book

1. Browse books on carts.

Found one you want to read?

Bring it to Ms. Sannwald to check out!

If you decide you want to swap it out with a different book later, just return it to Ms. Sannwald or the book drop.

After your class checkout day, Ms. Sannwald will keep the books on carts in her office area until reading is well underway.

2. Search for more books in the West Hills Library.

Finding Nonfiction Books to Read

There are more nonfiction books in the regular bookcases.

Ms. Sannwald did not put all possible nonfiction books for this project onto the carts.

See information on these slides about how to search the library catalog to find a book's Dewey number.

You can then go find the number and browse through books in the area to find titles on similar subjects.

3. Search for books at all GUHSD libraries and place a hold.

Searching for Books at All GUHSD Libraries

If another GUHSD library has a book you want to read, we can request it.

See information on these slides about how to search the library catalog to find a books at all GUHSD libraries.

If you find one you want to request, tell Ms. Sannwald. Requests are not always fillable, and when possible, they take several days to arrive.

Please note: If you borrow books from other sites, you must keep track of due dates they assign and will be responsible for overdue fines charged.

4. Suggest a book purchase to Ms. Sannwald.

Is there a book you think the WHHS library should have?

Please note: There are no guarantees that we will be able to buy the book for the collection. Also, if we purchase the book, please note that it may take at least several days (or more depending on availability) to get the book to you.
