I have taught English at Valhalla since 2007. During this time, I have taught Humanities 2 Honors and College Prep English, AP English Literature, AP English Language, AVID, English Learners, American Studies English, and American Studies Support. I attended UC Santa Barbara to earn my BA, and San Diego State where I earned my MA in English Literature with an emphasis in 20th Century American Literature.

Test Make ups will take place on Tuesdays at 3:36pm with Mrs. Norby in Room 407
Quizzes/Short Assessments will take place on Wednesday at Lunch with me in Room 402
Students are to be ready to learn at the beginning of the period.
All absences/tardy will be marked unexcused unless accompanied by a valid pass.
Frequent absences/tardies may not be excused if the student abuses the system.
Late Credit
All assignments are marked late if they are not turned at the designated time. For example, an assignment due at 11:59pm will earn up to 70% credit if it is turned in at 12:01am, even though it is 2 minutes late.
Progressive consequences: Warning, Detention, Mending Matters, Saturday School, Conduct Loss. (See Syllabus and Code of Conduct for specific policy).
If you are Truant
No work due will be accepted
Administration will assign Saturday school, Mending Matters, or other consequences for Truancies
If you are Excused Absent
All work is due the day you return (if it was done on paper and in class)
Digital work is due online (if work was done over several days)
For extended absences, please see teacher (early if possible). Extended time may be available depending on the circumstances.
All recommendations should be done in this fashion: At least 2 weeks prior to the due date, approach me in person and ask for a letter and inform me of the purpose. Then, complete the Google Form below. Provide any hard copies within 48 hours of first speaking with me. Send me a reminder email or speak with me in class at least 48 hours before the due date unless it's already been completed. If I am mailing your letter, provide a self-addressed envelope.
