Get to know Mrs. Semrow

Hi students and families! My name is Casey Semrow and I teach 6th and 7th grade Social Science. This will be my 4th year teaching at Guajome Park Academy. My teaching philosophy consists of 3 main ideas: exposure, education, and empathy. I am passionate about providing diverse perspectives and honoring the beauty in cultures from around the world. I am also a huge believer in Project Based Learning and I am eager to find innovative ways to bring history to life.

I grew up here in North County and I don't think I will ever leave. I currently live in Oceanside with my husband, Alex. I love to travel, hike, go to the beach, eat Hot Cheetos, and hang out with my family. I have one dog, Scout, and one cat, Luna. I am so excited to get to know all of you and (hopefully) meet you in person soon when it is safe to do so! Let's have an awesome year together!

Projects From Past Years...

Asia Expo Fair

7th grade students were asked to research cultural elements from a country of their choosing in Asia. They then presented their findings to their peers and families.

Scavenger Hunt

6th grade students traveling around campus on a scavenger hunt. They are acting as Social Scientists and looking for clues to learn more about early hominids.

Islamic Achievements

A 7th grade student created a Loteria game for her classmates to participate in. Through the game, she was able to teach her peers about various Islamic achievements.

Mesoamerican Achievements

To demonstrate his understanding of the Aztec civilization, this 7th grade student made a traditonal temple out of clay. He also wrote a one page paper summarizing the importance of temples in Aztec culture.
