We look forward to seeing you all at the Summer Fair today.

Thank you to the PTA for all their hard work and tireless organising. They always make the fair a great success and their efforts are hugely appreciated by all.

Warm Weather Update

Although the weather is forecast to remain warm next week, current forecasts do not indicate a return to the extreme temperatures experienced last week. As a result, there are currently no plans for the school day to finish early on any day next week.

We will continue to monitor the weather forecast closely and will inform families immediately if the situation changes and any adjustments need to be made.

As temperatures are still expected to remain in the 20s, children are welcome to continue attending school in their PE kits if they feel more comfortable dressed in this way.

Primary Athletics Tournament at StoneX Stadium

On Wednesday, 39 children from across KS2 travelled to the amazing StoneX Stadium to compete in the Primary Athletics Tournament. The weather was fantastic, and the atmosphere was incredible, with 16 schools from across Barnet taking part in the event.

The morning consisted of a range of field events for our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. In the afternoon, the Year 3 and Year 4 children joined to compete in the track events, relays and Tri-Golf competition.

Our children gave everything throughout the day and produced some outstanding performances. They demonstrated all the skills we have been practising in PE, showing determination, resilience and teamwork while striving to achieve their very best and earn as many points as possible for Brunswick Park.

The day became even more special when the results were announced. We are incredibly proud to share that Brunswick Park won the Morning Field Events Competition, accumulating more points than the other 15 schools and taking home the Field Events Trophy. This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work, commitment and positive attitude of all the children involved.

Everyone had a brilliant time, showing exceptional teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. We are extremely proud of every child who represented the school so brilliantly.

A huge well done to all of the children who took part, and thank you for making it such a memorable and successful day!

Filming and photos of concert, sports days etc

We would like to remind our Brunswick Park families that you are permitted to record and take photos of your child’s class performances. However, if these images and videos include children other than your own child, they must not be shared digitally (for example sent via email or WhatsApp) or posted on any social media platform unless you have gained consent from the parents/carers of all other children.

We understand that families want to capture and celebrate these special events but we must respect other people’s privacy.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Sensory Stories Workshop

Sense is a registered charity who believe that everyone should have the opportunity to connect with others and be included in the world. We have been extremely lucky in securing a space on their outreach 'Connect and Play' project. This week we finished exploring the children's classic 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Everyone had a fabulous time exploring a range of minibeasts in our waterplay, took turns to feed the caterpillar his food, made our own paintings of the caterpillar and explored the use of playdough to represent the amounts of food he ate each day. A new story will be shared next week.

Back in March 2025 Brunswick Park completed the Annual Literacy Survey.

Here are a few of our findings from across Year 5 linked to oracy:

· 89% of pupils questioned think they are good at asking the teacher questions

· 56% of pupils questioned think they are good at reading aloud to others

· 67% of pupils questioned think they are good at taking part in debates

· 100% of pupils questioned think they are good at listening to someone else and understanding their point of view

· 78% of pupils questioned think they are good are challenging other people’s views and opinions

· 89% of pupils questioned think they are good at having ono-on-one conversations

· 22% pf pupils questioned think they are good at expressing their feelings

· 33% of pupils questioned think they are good at speaking in front of an audience

· 67% of pupils questioned think they are good at speaking up for themselves and others

Reading Corner

Back in March 2026 Brunswick Park completed the Annual Literacy Survey.

Here are a few of our findings from across KS1, Year 3 and Year 4:

91% of pupils questioned enjoy reading at home
92% of pupils questioned enjoy reading at school
84% of pupils questioned think they are good or very good at reading
50% of pupils questioned read every day in their free time.
71% of pupils questioned think reading is fun.
84% of pupils questioned read to help them learn new words
42% of pupils read to make them feel happy
84% of pupils read to help them learn interesting things
80% of pupils questioned like to choose what they read
48% of pupils questioned like to talk about their reading with people
70% of pupils questioned say they are encouraged to read by family
Pupils mostly read story books, comics or books about facts on paper
96% of pupils questioned enjoy hearing stories being read to them
85% of pupils questioned visit the school library.
54% of pupils visit the local or public library.

The winners of the 2026 Carnegie Award for Illustration has finally been revealed.

The 2026 Carnegie Medal for illustration goes to . . . Wiggling Words by Kate Rolfe.
