Hot Weather
As we come to the end of an exceptionally warm week, I would like to thank all of our families for your patience, understanding and support. The temperatures reached their highest levels this week, and we greatly appreciated your cooperation as we introduced additional measures to help keep both children and staff safe and as comfortable as possible.
The good news is that the forecast for next week is much cooler, with temperatures expected to return to the low-20s. As a result, our normal school routines will resume from Monday.
Thank you once again for your continued support. We wish all of our families a safe, happy and relaxing weekend.
Miss Porter
On Tuesday, the girls from Year 6 went to the RAF museum to participate in a STEM day. We were celebrating International Women in Engineering day and engaged in many activities.
Firstly, we designed and made a bridge using limited materials. The 4 groups worked well together and came up with creative and unique designs. Some bridges managed to hold over 60 bean bags of weight!
We also coded our own robot to navigate their way around an airport mat using block coding. The girls had so much fun and learnt a lot!
Omar's Fantastic Achievement
On Saturday 06/06/2026 Omar Hunter from 5B competed in the Welsh Open ITF Taekwondo Tournament in Cardiff Wales. He won a bronze medal in patterns, Silver medal in sparring and a gold medal in special technique.
Well done Omar, we are so proud of you.
Chatter Matters
IT'S GOOD TO TALK!
“Would you rather” questions are a fun and engaging way to encourage critical thinking and imagination. This week’s questions for discussion are . . .
Would you rather . . . meet a unicorn or a cheetah?
Would you rather . . . be a doctor or a vet?
Would you rather . . . play a drum or a flute?
Should shops sell unhealthy food?

BICs Family Minds Workshops
Please note that these workshops are primarily aimed towards the parents/carers of children and young people.
BICS are inviting you to join our virtual workshops. These workshops aim to increase your knowledge of common wellbeing and mental health difficulties faced by children and young people. They also aim to provide you with strategies to assist you in supporting your young person.
We have eight topics coming up between June 2026 – December 2026
Understanding and Managing Friendships
BICS invite you to join a virtual workshop designed to support parents and carers in understanding how friendships develop and the challenges that may affect your child or young person.
The workshop aims to build confidence in understanding your child or young person’s friendships and supporting them through any difficulties that may arise. We will explore how anxiety can impact socialising and friendships difficulties, how neurodivergence may shape these experiences, and ways to empower your child or young person to develop boundaries, navigate conflict, and manage bullying.
The workshop also focuses on how to communicate effectively with your child or young person about friendship issues and when it may be helpful to step in to problem‑solve together, with the aim of strengthening your relationship and supporting their overall wellbeing.
Introduction to Neurodiversity Workshop
BICS invite you to join a virtual workshop designed to provide a general overview of neurodiversity. The session aims to support parents and carers in building awareness and understanding of what neurodiversity means and how it may relate to your child or young person’s experiences. We will explore key themes, discuss common challenges, and share practical ideas to help you navigate support.
The workshop will cover how to access support with or without a formal diagnosis, ways to advocate for your child in education settings, simple and effective strategies you can try at home, and the local services and resources available in Barnet.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop provides general information and guidance only. BICS does not offer neurodiversity assessments, diagnosis, or specialist intervention. The focus of the session is to build awareness and confidence for families who are exploring these areas or awaiting further support.
Please see the enclosed attachment with the covering email to book workshops.
