On Monday evening we welcomed our new Reception parents. Class photos took place on Tuesday. This week there were 5 trips and a Music Festival, as well as the PTA's Father's Day Secret Room. Thank you to the PTA for another amazing event. The children loved choosing and wrapping gifts for Father's Day. Thank you to all the staff who make the trips happen and for everyone who helps out with the organisation, mini bus runs and covering other classes.

Our Education Welfare Officer also visited this week to look at individual attendance figures and lateness. Please try to make sure that your children are on time for school. By being late they miss vital instructions and it causes disruption to the class.

The Mathematical Cost of Lateness

Punctuality statistics demonstrate that minutes quickly compound into substantial absences over a full academic year:

5 minutes late per day: Equals 3 days of lost learning time.
10 minutes late per day: Equals 6.5 days of lost learning time.
15 minutes late per day: Equals 2 weeks of lost learning time (about 10.3 days).
30 minutes late per day: Equals roughly 19 days of lost learning

Half of Year 6 went to the Harry Potter Studios on Monday as a well done for SATs! We had a tour of the studios and a photo taken on a broomstick. The children had a fabulous time and we can’t wait to go with the other half next week!

Over this academic year, a group of pupils from both Brunswick Park and Church Hill School have been participating in a project titled 'My Future Voice', delivered by Chickenshed.

Yesterday, we celebrated the end of their project by visiting the Chickenshed Theatre Company in Southgate.

In one of their dance studios the pupils showcased their work, which was on display, and performed a short dance and song to each other.

The performances were amazing and the pupils should be very proud of their effort and confidence.

Brunswick Park presented 'Rockadile Crocodile' and 'Colour Me' for which they used Makaton and Church Hill performed a dance to Bruno Mars 'Uptown Funk'.

It was then great watching all the pupils interact with each other and the staff whilst creating their own sock puppets and bracelets.

We thank Chickenshed for their valuable time during this project and for their hospitality.

Barnet Music Festival

This week, 25 children from year 4-6 performed in a massed choir in the Arts Depot, North Finchley. They have shown amazing dedication to learning the repertoire for the concert, which included Gaelic mouth sounds and Korean lyrics. Their hard work and practise culminated in the most beautifully harmonised performances. Brunswick Park and Church Hill also performed a very moving and powerful rendition of Fix You by Coldplay. A huge well done to all of these children!

Sensory Stories Outreach workshop

Sense is a registered charity who believe that everyone should have the opportunity to connect with others and be included in the world. We have been extremely lucky in securing a space on their outreach 'Connect and Play' project. This week during our Sensory Stories workshop, we explored the children's classic 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Everyone had a fabulous time exploring the colourful rice with different size 'tweezers' and exploring different toy minibeasts and leaves with magnifying glasses. The children then made some fabulous stain glass window butterflies.

Summer Fair Information

🌍🍽️ International Food Buffet — Summer Fair, Friday 3rd July! 🍽️🌍

This year's Summer Fair will feature an International Food Buffet — and we'd love your help to make it amazing! 🎉

We're inviting families to donate a traditional, nut-free dish from your culture or a family favourite. Whether it's home-made or shop-bought, every contribution adds something special to the table!

If you're stuck to decide what to bring, here are some suggestions:

🌟 We Need YOU! 🌟

Our Summer Fair is just around the corner — Friday 3rd July — and we need your help to make it an absolutely brilliant day for our children! 🎉☀️

We're looking for parents, carers, grandparents, aunties, uncles and older siblings to volunteer just an hour or even half an hour of their time between 2.30pm and 8.30pm to help run our stalls. Every pair of hands makes a huge difference! 🙌

And here's the best bit — all volunteers will enjoy a free meal and drink during their shift! 🍽️🥤

If you're able to help, please let your class rep know with your available time slot.
