Parent Newsletter number 33 05.06.2026
Welcome back to the last half term of this academic year. We hope you all enjoyed the scorching hot half term break.
Year 3 have had a fantastic start to their swimming lessons and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Lessons continue next week.
We would like to wish Year 6 a wonderful time next week, as they leave to go on their PGL adventure to the Isle of Wight. Have fun Year 6!
Bikes and Scooters
May we remind all parents and carers that for Heath and Safety reasons, children must not ride bikes or scooters in the playground at drop-off or pick-up times. Thank you for working with us in keeping everyone safe.
Sensory Stories Outreach workshop
Sense is a registered charity who believe that everyone should have the opportunity to connect with others and be included in the world. We have been extremely lucky in securing a space on their outreach 'Connect and Play' project. We will be participating in a six week Sensory Stories programme, which supports interaction and communication. This week we explored the traditional tale 'The Three Little Pigs.' Everyone had a fabulous time exploring the available sensory activities (wet/dry messy play and crafts) linked around the shared story.
Reading Corner
The last two entries to the Carnegie Illustration Awards have now been shared.
Pupils have also shared their favourite. We will announce our shortlisted favourite in next week’s Reading Corner.
Here are some of the pupil’s views:
“I liked the way that the pages were like a comic book.”
“The drawings were spooky, which made me want to know more.”
“I liked the way the word ‘BoooooooM’ stretched across the page.”
“Every page had a different layout, which kept the chapter interesting.”
“The colour red, from their school uniforms, jumped out on the pages.”
“I liked the comic style layout of every page and how this changed on every page.”
“Every page was in black and white, but some pages were faint in colour, whilst others were dark and bold.”
“I found it strange that there was no text in chapter 1. We had to use our observation skills to understand what the author wanted us to discover and know.”
