We have had another busy week at Brunswick Park despite it being a short one. Year 4 have had a fantastic time at their residential trip to Stubbers Adventure Centre. We cannot wait to hear all about it. Thank you to the Year 4 team and other volunteer staff who attended to ensure the children had this wonderful experience.
Brunswick Park have been busy celebrating Deaf Awareness Week.
Staff have been provided with information to develop their own subject knowledge and the pupils have been learning some BSL finger spelling and greetings.
Year 2 have been signing the register each day and learning simple phrases in British Sign Language (BSL) and Makaton.
They have also learnt to sign the song 'celebrate' together!
Great work Year 2.
Nursery Zoolab visit
The children had a fantastic time during the Zoolab visit this morning. They were incredibly excited to meet and learn about a variety of mini beasts and animals, including a snake, spider, and gerbil. Many of the children were brave enough to touch the animals and enjoyed getting a closer look while learning interesting facts about them. Throughout the session, the children were highly engaged and listened carefully to the Zoolab leader, Joey. They asked lots of thoughtful questions and showed great curiosity and enthusiasm while learning about the animals, their habitats, and how they survive in the wild. We were especially proud of how sensible and respectful the children were during the visit. Their behaviour was fantastic at all times, and they represented the school brilliantly. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they took part in the activities and supported one another.
Reading Corner
Last week in assembly we enjoyed and discussed the following book.
Here are some of the pupil’s views:
“The illustrations were detailed and show good facial expressions showing the fear on their faces.”
“It is very clever how the braids could tell a story and be a map showing the way to freedom.”
“The story demonstrated that we can always be strong, independent and smart especially when faced with fear. The ladies were united in the story.”
“The pictures started being shaded with dark colours representing worry, but as they got closer to freedom the colours cam brighter.”
Chatter Matters
IT'S GOOD TO TALK!
This weekend turn the television off and play a game. This can be as simple as playing different board games and getting your child to explain the rules. Why not also talk through their strategies and the choices they a have made?
Alternatively, here are some more ‘What if’s’ to explore . . . .
If you could travel back in time; where would you go first?
If you could be a character in any book; who would you choose to be?
If you could ride a dinosaur; which dinosaur would you choose?
If you were the ruler of a kingdom; what kind of ruler would you be?
If you could design a new gadget; what problem would it solve?

Sports News
Time for tennis
On Thursday, four children represented our school in the Barnet Tennis Tournament. We took a fantastic group of year students all keen to improve their skills.
The students played a number of mini-tennis matches, focusing on developing their match play and improving their overall game. They impressed us throughout with brilliant shots, strong serving, and excellent sportsmanship.
It was a beautiful afternoon filled with great weather, exciting tennis, and plenty of action. Despite winning a number of matches, the teams narrowly missed out on reaching the semi-finals. However, they should be extremely proud of their efforts and had a truly enjoyable afternoon.
Girls football - Runners up in Federation Football
On Friday, the second event in our Federation Football Series took place, with a 5-a-side tournament hosted at Tudor School. After the boys’ competition last week, it was the turn of the Year 5/6 girls to compete for the trophy.
On a hot Friday afternoon, each school arrived at Tudor ready to take part in an exciting football tournament. Brunswick Park started strongly, securing an impressive 1–0 victory over Tudor. They followed this up with a dominant 2–0 win over Church Hill. This left them with an all-to-play-for final against Manorside, who had also won both of their games.
Despite creating a number of chances and taking plenty of shots in the final match, Brunswick Park could not find the back of the net. With the opposition also posing a real attacking threat, it was a highly competitive game throughout. Eventually, Manorside scored with an unstoppable strike from a tight angle to take the victory.
The result meant that Manorside claimed the Year 5/6 Girls’ Trophy, with Brunswick Park finishing in second place. It was a fantastic effort from the whole team, and they should be really proud of how close they came to lifting the trophy.

Thanks to all your generous donations, we raised the total of £347.00 for the school!
The children had an absolutely fantastic day full of fun and smiles 😄

LYC Experience Day - 1:30pm-5:30pm, Friday 29 May

A free half term event with London Youth Choirs (LYC) open to children aged 6-11 from all over London who have never been in LYC before or sung in a choir. As well as lots of singing, fun warm ups and energetic games led by our expert leaders, the afternoon session will include tips on preparing for an audition and how to build confidence in your singing:
