Well done to all the children for putting so much effort into Yes Day.
We saw everything from sparkly costumes to a special appearance from Darth Vader. The money raised is for a great cause and will be totalled up shortly.
The Big School Workout
We’re excited to share that Brunswick Park will be taking part in The Big School Workout with Joe Wicks as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
On Thursday 14 May from 2:15–2:45pm, children in KS1 and KS2 will join schools across the country for a fun, high-energy live workout. This special session encourages pupils to get active while learning how movement can boost mood, build resilience, and support overall mental wellbeing—especially after the SATS period.
All children should come into school wearing their PE kits on this day so they are ready to take part comfortably.
All pupils will simply need to come ready to move and enjoy being active together!
Robyn
We’d like to wish our wonderful Reception teacher, Robyn, the very best of luck as she takes on the London Marathon this Sunday!
This is an incredible achievement, and we are all so proud of her dedication, determination, and positive spirit. Robyn is running in support of Barnardo's, a fantastic charity that helps vulnerable children and young people across the UK.
If you would like to support Robyn and this amazing cause, you can donate here:

Good luck, Robyn — the whole school community is behind you every step of the way!
Birthday treats
Following last week’s newsletter about our commitment to being a Healthy School and our approach to birthday treats, we’ve had a few families ask for more ideas for alternatives to sweets and chocolate. Thank you for supporting us with this — we really appreciate your help in promoting healthy habits for all children.
If your child would still like to share something with their class to celebrate their birthday, here are some non-food and healthier celebration ideas that children really enjoy:
Non-food ideas
Stickers or sticker sheets
Colouring sheets or small activity packs
Pencils, erasers, or fun stationery
Bookmarks
Small bubbles
Temporary tattoos
Mini puzzle sheets or word searches
Healthier food ideas (if you prefer to bring something edible)
Fresh fruit kebabs or portions (e.g. satsumas, apple slices, grapes in small bags)
Raisin boxes or dried fruit snack packs
Plain popcorn (individually portioned)
Some families may want to choose a non-treat option, such as donating a book to the class or selecting a small game for wet playtime, which can be a lovely way to mark the occasion.
Thank you again for helping us support a healthy environment for all our pupils while still making birthdays feel special and celebrated.
2A went on a brilliant trip on Tuesday to Barnet Environment Centre in support of their topic about Living Things and Their Habitats. They had a fantastic time pond dipping and investigating all of the wildlife they found. After lunch, they had the chance to explore deeper in the woods, turning over bits of wood on the floor to see what wildlife they could find. It was a fantastic day and the children behaved beautifully!
Reading Corner
Thank you to Tracy for the new books she purchased for the school library.
They are both on the system ready for you to scan out.
Happy reading!

This summer term we will be taking part in ‘The Carnegies’ – the UK’s longest-running book awards for children and young people. As a school, we will be shadowing the Carnegie Medal for Illustration.
We are looking forward to sharing and discussing these texts and hearing everyone’s view.
Watch this space to find out who Brunswick Park decides to be the most worthy winner of the Carnegie award!
Chatter Matters
IT’S GOOD TO TALK!
“Would you rather” questions are a fun and engaging way to encourage critical thinking and imagination. This week’s questions for discussion are . . .
Would you rather listen to a story about animals or about space?
Would you rather listen to bees buzzing or crows cawing?
Would you rather complete a science experiment or a craft activity?

Y1/2 Girls Football Festival
On Friday, girls from Year 1 and 2 had a wonderful time at the Barnet Girls Football Festival. With 20 other teams taking part, it was a vibrant and exciting event, providing a fantastic introduction to football in a fun and supportive environment.
Our girls did an amazing job learning the game and developing their skills throughout the morning. With each match, their confidence grew, and it was fantastic to see them becoming more comfortable on the ball. There were some excellent tackles, skilful dribbles, well-taken goals, and impressive saves, all of which showed how quickly they were picking things up and putting them into practice.
What stood out most was their enthusiasm, determination, and teamwork. The girls showed great energy in every game and demonstrated wonderful sportsmanship, always supporting and encouraging one another, whether on or off the pitch. Their positive attitudes and willingness to try their best made us incredibly proud.
Overall, it was a brilliant experience and a memorable morning for everyone involved. We hope this has sparked a lasting interest in football and inspired the girls to continue developing their skills and enjoying the game in the future

Throughout the morning, the children demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, determination and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see their skills progressing with each match, as well as their ability to communicate and work effectively as a team.
