On Tuesday 7th May 2024 a team of 35 athletes from across years 3-6 attended the Barnet Schools Athletics Competition. We arrived at the sun-drenched Stone X stadium (home of Saracens Rugby) in very high spirits – our chants and cheers rang throughout the stands. The competition comprised of Track, Field and Tri Golf events against 9 other schools.
We are incredibly proud of all of the children who performed with great courage, determination and resilience throughout their events. After long morning and afternoon sessions the results were in; all schools assembled on the track. The anticipation was electric.
The Results
The Field events – 3rd place (just 4 points off 1st place).
Tri Golf - 1st place in the first ever Tri Golf competition.
Track results – 1st place.
Overall - 1st Place
Our incredible competitors were presented with an amazing three out of the four trophies on the presentation table that day. Needless to say, we returned to school in even higher spirits.
A huge thank you to all parents that supported this event and massive congratulations to all those children that gave 100% that day.
Year 6 students played in a football friendly against Ashmole. The team, who looked fantastic in out new kits sponsored by Charles Peppiatt, dominated from the start. A confident first half saw the team firmly camped in the Ashmole box but lacking the cohesion and teamwork to break through and create any clear cut chances. In the second half, the team was much improved, looking for the space and forcing a number of different scoring opportunities. Alek broke the deadlock with a fantastic run before Lukas scored form close range soon after. The team kept their concentration until the end, supporting each other until the final whistle to secure the win. The match ended in a 2-0 victory and another great afternoon for the team. Well done all.
Some Year 2 children have also been involved in football action, playing in football festivals at Power League. For many of them this was their first chance to represent the school. There were great tackles, saves and some brilliant goals in two fun filled mornings. All the children conducted themselves impressively and showed a never give up attitude . We look forward to seeing how these students develop.
A team of year children travelled to Oakleigh Park tennis club to represent the school in a mini tennis competition. They played in a number of matches against other schools, serving, rallying and returning to gain as any pints as possible. Children also showed great honesty and integrity as they ran and scored their own matches. Our team did a great job and loved the experience.
