In Unit 2 Lesson 1, students learn how to create secure passwords in order to protect their private information and accounts online. They explore scenarios in which two characters choose passwords, and they use the tips they have learned to create secure new ones for those characters. They then create posters to communicate password tips to their families and other students.
Below you will find the complete lesson plan packet as well as the student sheets separated into individual files for easy reproducing, or you can copy them to your Drive and then share them through Google Classroom.
Also, you will find supplementary material that has been prepared to make implementing the lesson much easier.
All lessons are used freely through Common Sense Media and Common Sense Education. Images in the presentations are all licensed through Creative Commons. (Source)
Teacher Materials & Preparation:
- Review the lesson plan and Nearpod presentation to familiarize yourself with the activities and keywords. Worksheet activities maybe included in the Nearpod presentation.
- For the poster activity, plan 8 groups, and decide if students will use class materials or if they will use an online site: Google Slides, Piktochart, PicMonkey, etc.
Additional Information:
- Students may work in pairs for a small portion of the lesson.
